If it fits, it ships. If it doesn’t, it ships anyway. Snug on the 40"width, but the 54/55 inch length is too long. Don’t like running with the tailgate down, that’s a lot of weight bouncing on the cables. So we bungeed the gate up solid at an angle.
I could have cut the box because it’s bigger than needed, but I wanted to fill it with an aftermarket glass and sell it on fleabay.
Just kidding, I may kick puppies, and take baby’s candy, but I wouldn’t stoop that low. I’ve never even been to Nigeria.
Opening the box in my living room(not married), it looks like 3 silver piggies, or alien corpses, laying on the concave(inside) of the glass.
Each end of the glass is captured in a foam piggie too.
It looks like they laid the glass on 2 hard foam pieces, put a hard foam piece down each side(windshield top and bottom) , then foamed the ends to stabilize it. The three foam piggies on top give protection.
Not heavy but awkward and in handling the 2 hard foam supports move around so not much protection on the bottom. No wonder so many arrived at the dealers busted.
I got the 50 cent tour of all the buildings. Personable guy, easy to deal with, and has a fortune tied up in new and used parts. $1000 sounds like a lot for the glass, and it is, but I seem to remember when you could still get them from GM they were in the neighborhood of $800.
Aftermarket glass is way cheaper, and I don’t give a rat’s patooty about the genuine logo. But listening to people who’ve been through it, the aftermarket glass will keep out squirrels and snow but doesn’t match the trim right.
