The volt looks pretty good....I couldn't live with a 40 mile range, but since it can extend to 640 miles (actually I think that it's range would be the same as any gas vehicle....as long as there is a gas station, it will go)

Gas Prices

- SHELL -

87 = 2.92
89 = 3.02
93 = 3.14

I have a SHELL CARD so I receive a 5% Rebate on all SHELL gas and products that I purchase - And it sure is adding up between the 4 trucks in my family. One truck is on 87, two are on 89 and the SSR is on 93 of course.

- When it's my time to go, I want to go as my father did -
- Peacefully in his sleep, not screaming in terror like his passengers -

I know that Michigan drivers (most) are idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cops Included!!!!
I have never been beaten of the 'light' and have not had to spin the tires, but I still can get a squeek out of the auto shift to second by how I control the throttle. I have slid the rear loose a couple times on purpose on a couple of my favorite MG/biker curves just to get the feel of how She is going to react. I can see some times problems, I liken it to a good complex aged Caberne or a Single Malt like Talisker or Laphroiag .

As badly as I want to drive my to my brother's on the OH/PA border, next week for Thanksgiving (assuming my gets here) I think I need to tell Dan to fill up the Taurus now and take the T-Bird to work next week so we have a full tank with better gas mileage before the gouge hits hard.

One thing is for sure, it's things like gas and the absurd CA enviro standards and taxes on gas that make me glad not to live there anymore.

This webpage is still in my favorites, but I'm not as concerned anymore out here:

A unique number set for sure ! ! Only 34,000 on my '06 , but put 47,000 on my '04 (purchased in '05) before trading. The current job location is putting lots of miles on, but with residential construction virtually at a stand-still, few miles put on most of the year.

Damn, HRG

What do they use . . . one of those electronic scrolling gizmos or do they have a full-time employee to maintain the price boards?

Paid 3.099 for 89 just yesterday. This particular station's fairly stable, so it's been this price for about 2 weeks now. I expect it to be going up soon though. Most other places are 3.199 for mid grade (what I use in my truck due to the mods I did).

A lot of stations are going to the electronic displays so they can change on a whim.

Inflation and the Feds

Gas is one thing that has been fluctuating like crazy, but I also read in the newspaper this morning about the rate of increase for just about everything. Looks like average inflation from groceries to energy has been on the rise at about 4.4 percent.

The feds said the average rate of inflation this year has been 2.3 percent. I am wondering what the heck they are using for a calculator !!!

$3.459 for 91 at USA station in Roseville, CA on Saturday and same at Costco in Irwindale,CA on Sunday. The round trip to Roseville according to GPS was 839.6 miles and the DIC says I got 18.1 mpg including the running around I did during the stay. Expensive Thanksgiving, but fun.

I'll give NJ credit for 2 things:

1) gas stations are only allowed to change prices once per day and
2) you are not allowed to pump your own gas. (This bothered me at first, but now when it's below freezing out, I sit happy in my warm truck )

WOW!!!! here in Detroit (Warren) MI area they change prices 4-5 times a day, and the gas stations seems to be NOT ALLOWED to pump the gas. 5 stations near my location have signs "NO ATTENDANT AVAILABLE, PUMP YOUR OWN GAS"
They are also super lax on maintaining the rubber fumes shield, with most of them not even have any.
No wonder the Mutor City is dying a slow death!
