Hey everyone, I have spoken with the admin and your suggestions are being noted and many are currently being worked on...some take a bit longer and there may still be some tweaking needed, but they are actively working on concerns and options.

Just give them a break and a little time. I know not everyone will like the changes and some will take getting used to, but they really are trying to make the site a better place to visit.

The option to going back to the classic skin will help some. I know one of the things they are currently working on are the colors and making sure it is a bit easier on the eyes.

One of the new features I like is the drop down menus on the top banner like the forums tab...

That is why we left that option, I feel like most will calm down once they figure out that is an option.

Recent discussions on the right has things I have not participated in so I am not sure what it is referring to unless it is a repeat of Active topics. There will be a learning curve I am sure.

Information in my Profile which used to be on the left has disappeared, though it is still in my profile. Not sure how to get "MY SSR:" info back in Left side bar. I cannot even find where to edit it in UserCP.
@BlueStreak - We have added back the "My SSR" info on the left-hand side.

Hello all,

I can hopefully clear some stuff up for you. I know change is hard to deal with but we are making this updates for the site and communities health in the long run. Yes there are advertisers but they pay for the staff support, servers costs, and upgrade likes this. Without them, you would not be able to access the site nor keep it running smoothly.

My main focus and duty as a Community Manager is to keep our sites active, happy, and work with the community to make the best experience possible for the end users.

In regards to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" quote I see 20x a day on the 300+ sites I have upgraded. Unfortunately, the site was broke in the eyes of Google's new mobile rules and was missing many features that most sites now offer. Websites have to upgrade, update, and evolve to stay relevant. (see links below). Without updates they fall behind, come up less in search, users are unable to access in mobile, and it will end up choking out the site.

Googles new rules for websites: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/6196932?hl=en

Here is a site not touched since 1996 as an example of how far the web has come: Space Jam

All major players will be updating sites, We built out this custom template 3 years ago and have been continuously improving it ever since.

I hope some of this clears up the purpose behind the updates and changes, we would not be investing all these resources to make the site worse or to alienate our community.

Feel free to reach out with any other questions.

Heya guys,

Note we darkened up the red so hopefully it is easier on the eyes. Let me know we can still tweak it.

Also the drop down boxes should be fixed also.

Utterly stupid.

If everyone "likes" everyone's posts, we won't have time to do anything except read notifications.

So please!!!!!!!!!! don't "like" any posts I make.

The Good:
The new banner looks good with a nice variety of SSR's.

The new Font size is great for my eldering eyeballs to see more easily.

The not so good:
The new color Red borders are not something that says this a special site. It's rather generic. I liked the orange better.

The cheesy envelopes on the left and locks on the right make the site look kinda cheap too.

Maybe it's just me, but with today's digital abilities I think some of the small details could be better to make this a more professionally appealing site to new surfers coming across our great community.
Please see this thread for details:
https://www.ssrfanatic.com/forum/f8/n...thread-163562/

We just updated the red and I am updating the icons on the main index page now.

When I go into the user CP, I can see the avatar, above it says your current avatar, and the choice to delete it box. It's the one I want, so I just save changes, but it does not go to post page.

I notice all of us (users) have our names in Red which used to be for Moderators, Admin is still Blue, Moderators are just like users Red. Maybe just changing that all back to the way it was would help ease the "RED LOOK" Actually, I think MARC NY was in Green as Admin but not sure. Just trying to help. Thanks for getting the Truck information back on the profile display.

I agree, GET RID OF THE LIKE, that is one reason I do not do all the social media crap

I just typed a long rant about passwords... If we had been forewarned about this upgrade we could have perhaps made note of our user names and passwords.
AND I could not post it because I was not logged in, but I could not log in.
Anyway, we all resist change.. But I will get used to new format, just like I did when I first joined many years ago.
I love this forum and ALL it's membership.
Administrators must have a difficult time dealing with all our frustrations and patience or lack of it.
Thanks to all who run this madhouse... and the knowledge available to us all.

I found that I can turn off "Quote" and "Mention" notifications in the SETTINGS section at the bottom of the User CP. Might be better if that was a "turn on" switch instead of "turn off". I also found "LIKE" was handled under Tool.s, Quick links, Notifications and Messaging, there is a choice of "turn on" or "turn off" Like notififcation.

Ok. I have a question. Why can't y'all just lose the red and change the color back to the same as is on the "classic" site, and change the names back to the simple black that they are on the "classic" site? Or, would that be impossible with today's technology? Or, would that not look "new and exciting," you know, shiny, like a new iPhone/pad/device every 6 months.

Unhappy Ads

The overabundance of advertising is sickening.
I would rather pay a little more membership to avoid all the ads.
I even see them posted in the regular member posts.

Interesting. I don't see any ads at all when I'm on the computer.

I do see some when I'm logged in on my phone, but those are from the "free" app.
