Chevrolet dealer Bob McDorman(R) with his wife Alice and Chevrolet General Manager Brent Dewar as Dewar presents McDorman with the keys to his 2003 Chevrolet SSR (Super Sport Roadster) and a poster. McDorman immediately customized the SSR with a personalized Ohio license plate reading SSR0002. General Motors announced it would donate the second SSR built to the SAE Foundation and in turn announced the vehicle would be auctioned on eBay with proceeds used to provide funding for the Heinz C. Prechter Award for Automotive Excellence. McDorman submitted two bids during the last two minutes of the auction and outbid 96 other potential owners securing his winning bid of $137,850. McDorman's SSR is the lowest VIN sold to the public.
