Console lid popper

It's almost impossible to open the console lid from the drivers seat with one hand.
I made a spring popper that mounts under the lid in the rear using one of the existing screws. When the button is pushed the lid pops up 1.5" making it a one handed operation to access the console while driving. A rubber bumper protects the paint on your console cover.
I will have a batch of these ready in about 3 weeks for $14.00 ea. incl. postage.
Installation will require an included T15 torx screwdriver to remove and re-install the screw.
If interested please PM me, I'll only take PayPal for payment.

At the bottom left corner of the post, there is a diamond shape with an exclamation point in it.

Click on that, and it will open up a window that you can use to report the post to the moderators. They can delete the extra thread.

Oh yeah - and don't pay any attention to Golfer2. He jumped to a wrong conclusion.

My console lid will stay open, you have to push to the straight up position, then it should stay open.

If you open past the 90 degree point there is a catch the keeps it open; at least mine does, give it a try.

This was a owner complaint on the 2003's Chevy fixed it for 04. There may be a few early 04's with that issue too as Chevy was working down parts inventory.
After the fix the lid stays when opened past vertical.

It does stay up! Or should!

Must be "pushed" way back or UP.

The hinge arm has a "detent" to hold console cover up.

Hinge may be bent in and not holding.

I think the Console "Popper" is a good idea.

Yep Mine has always stayed up. You have to push it back to stay up like Dick said. Every one that thought they had a problem, did not after learning to push back.

Lift till you start to feel resistance, then push it some more.

You have to feel the resistance, that is the holding power. You might hear it also.

I went right out after Dicks post. I pushed past what I thought would be the breaking point. All of a sudden the lid went further. When this happened my hands automatically pulled the lid back. I [think] the lid was in the hold position for 1/2 a second? I kept trying to get it to lock again but I was afraid I would break it? I MEAN, I WAS REALLY PUSHING HARD. There must be a way to get to some adjustment??? I would like it to function but don't want to take the consul apart? It looks like my truck was one of the bad ones people complained about? The original owner only put 5,000 miles on the truck in 11 years. My first thoughts were:> that he broke the CATCH? NOW I believe he never knew there was a problem? .............Every option in 03 but the cargo bar was still in the box. BIRDMAN

That looks like a great idea. I did not know about the detent. I will have to give it a try.

Looks like a good idea. I hate "picking" the console door open after pushing the button. As for it staying open if you push it past the all the way open resistance point, I knew that.

Yeah it'll stay up, but getting it started while holding the button is a pain in the butt.

Often wrong...... but never in doubt.

Obviously you do not have enough stuff shoved into the console.

Smile Oh yeah!!

At our monthly Permagrin Breakfast yesterday Greg (texasbaehr) delivered & installed my new popper and it works flawlessly!!

Easy to install (just a couple of minutes) and is very handy for a "one-hand" console access.

Thanks Greg

Fixin' to order one.....when we get our Government Checks Wednesday !!! Sounds like a great "invention" I have told General Motors they should hire some common Engineers that really understand vehicles. No, they hire the "yuppie" right out of college, pay 'em 2 or 300,000 dollars to sit on their butt and play with a bunch of electronics and they don't even have a clue how to design something workable. They should have hired Dicktator, Dragon2U, Mike in Arizona a few other common knowledge "gearheads." Get off your "soapbox" Bob and get to church, it's 9/11. Pray for the brave ones who lost their lives and the ones who survived. A sad, sad day. I was working at Bud's Tire that day, what a tragedy.....comparable to Pearl Harbor !!! tennesseecozydog

I ordered the springs bulk from what I thought was a US supplier. Turns out they are drop shipped from Asia and won't be in my mailbox until Oct 8. I will have a batch ready to go a week after that.
Will update when they are ready. For those that have paid ,I will mail them out as soon as they are ready.
Thanks for your patience!

Cool

Glad I was lucky enough to get one of the first batch.

Used it twice yesterday and it works like a charm! Getting in and out of your center console is a "one-hand operation" again ~~ just the way its supposed to be! Thx again Greg. woohoo
