Custom Intake Cover Problems

I purchased a custom intake cover for my "R" in Maggie this past week. I did not have any success due to the hood not being able to close completely and it didn't seem to fit over the intake all the way. I removed the foam and also the side brackets that the foam attaches to because the cover didn't want to go over the screw heads very well. I then removed the intake itself as if you were changing the air filter (which I did and boy did it need it). Also removed the foam on the bottom in case that was keeping it from snapping in place. It slid over the intake cover easier but sadly, I could not make it work. I have been told that only a few of these were custom made. Is there anyone out there that has installed one of these and can give me some suggestions? Thanks!

Wonder what year it was built for. The 05,06 is different then the 03,04. Just a thought. In your picture you show the black cover still on. Maybe that all has to be removed. Just guessing. Good luck. Looks pretty.

Cool

I'll bet it was for a 03/04 all though the seller it came from had a 04 but did not try to install it.
I saw a pic of a RED posted a month or so ago but didn't pay attention to the year.

The Pac Blue cover is suppose to snap/fit over the black box. I took it all a part to see if it would fit better unattached. It does not replace the black intake box because there is no way to mount it...

If it was made for an 03-04' then why is it Pac Blue? We all know that color was only available in 06'...

OLDFATGUY (Dino) gave me a call today with some direction and encouragement to get the air intake filter cover mounted. I wasn't all that enthused with the look until he sent me a picture of his! By painting the bottom shroud and the engine cover I think it will look pretty good!

Once again, the Fanatic Family comes through! Thanks Dino!

Looks good, but I agree with you. Painting radiator splash shield will likely look better.
The splash shield is still available and realativly affordable if you don't want to paint over yours. I know I recently purchased one.
