Alex....I just stumbled across pics of your SSR. I have a 2003 and have a question about modifying the air intake box. It appears you simply cut out the front section. Seems like a logical way for engine to breath better? Have you had any adverse effects from doing this? Any noticeable gains in performance? Thanks

    Alex,
I have an 05R and want to install a Web Electric blinker. My tailgate is carperted and the website says to unscrew the two round black tie down. They don't seem to unscrew. Does it take a special tool to remove them? HELP!!

    Bob,
I should have told you that large, toe size, nail clippers with a straight, not curved edge, works great for cutting off the 3 tabs on the chrome buttons.

    Alex,

Picked up the washers at Advanced Auto, cut out the centers with a gasket punch, but forgot to grind off the 3 tabs. Looked bad so I pulled them back off and belt sanded the tabs off . While I had the blanket off I installed Floyd Baileys SSR chrome letter kit to it. Have not done anything with the back yet. If you get time send the pics.

    thanks....

    Bob,
I got the large black ones from Advance Auto, but most any auto parts store will do. On the large black fasteners, I drilled out the threaded post and then pushed the chrome faster post through the hole. Remember to cut off the 3 small tabs on the bottom side of the chrome fastener, so that it will lay flat against the black one. Like you called it, you basically use the black one as large washer.
In the cargo area, just remove the small black fasteners and use the chrome ones by themselves as replacements.
I'll take a picture and send it to you.

    Alex,

I just ordered a set from Gary. He said you must have purchased a dozen sets from him in the past.
Did you get the larger washers (black ones) from Car Quest? I'm going to duplicate the way you did yours. Looks great !!! If I use the other chrome fasteners in the crago area, do I also have to use the larger black spacer washers to fill the void ?? Do you have any pictures of these in the cargo area. Just curious to see what it looks like.

    Bob,
Sorry, but I believe that I'm out of them myself, or at least down to my last couple of them. So I don't have 5 of them to sell you for the SSR hood blanket. I buy them from fanatic "vetteman62" (Gary Peterson). That is Gary's seller's name on eBay as well.
His email address is: [email protected]. Tell him that Alex Tomanovich referred you to him. He may cut you some slack in price. He normally sells them in a pack of 15, as they are packaged and sold for the Corvette hood blanket, which takes 15. By the way, I replaced all of the push pin fasteners in the cargo area as well with these chrome ones.

    Alex,

Do you have any more of the chrome plastic caps that hold up the hood blanket? If so how much would you want for a set ??

    Bob,
Contact "Marc NY" (Marc Carpenter). He's one of the forum administrators, works for GM, and was resposible for setting up the original vendor to make 500 of the waterfall badges. He may have an extra one or know someone who has one.
On the rear sway bar, I merely sleeved it with 1" chrome convoluted tubing made by Spectre Industries. It comes in a 48" long section, and it fits perfectly without cutting any off. You'll probably have to replace it once a year. You can by it at a local Pep Boys Auto Parts store or online at Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts l 800-230-3030. My SSR is a daily driver, so I can't remove items that would render it un-driveable. Yeah, I "blinged out" every dang bolt head, stud, and hose/tubing in the engine bay so I got bored and I went to town under the truck as well.
