ggoat!!! Any update on Bob's trees?

04-10-2014 03:41 PM
wildcat66 I am not sure about the tree's my understanding was that even if they had a rough start or didn't make it for some reason they would be replaced. I guess I will need to check on this !

LTs SSR I asked about this, too... not so long ago... was told they trees didn't fair too well over a couple of harsh years. BUT I will say the BobA Long Distance award is going strong!! I have meet many member who have won it!! It was just most recently given out at Laughlin!!

ggoat!!! Here's Bob's of the first mods I noticed on an SSR that made me go, "WOW!!!!!!!!"

ggoat!!! How are Bob's trees doing???

I remember early on reading Bob's posts when I first joined the forum...he was one of the earliest to customize his truck; I remember his amazing red seats! I know Arin bought his truck but he hasn't been on the site for years...

BobA was one of the first people on the site that we lost; I remember how shocked I was when I found out what happened to him. He went out doing what he loved!

Let's all take a second to remember one of the first characters on this site...

TucsonSSR BobA popped into mind today. It was nice to see the pics of his trees. It looks like at least one survived that ice storm.

Wow, time marches on.

MICKEYS Those pictures were taken just after the BIG Ice storm that destroyed half the trees in Tulsa. Will try to take some current ones next time we are on that side of town

Purple Penelope WOW FACTOR just started a thread on Bobby, which brought to mind the trees planted in his memory.
Is someone close enough (Mickey??) that a pix could be taken of how the trees have grown in the 2+ years since planting?? Still think of him often.

Richard in TX Machell

Thanks so much for visiting and posting the pics of Bob's forest. The floral arrangement is truly an original, just like Bob and his beautiful truck. I'm sure Bob and family are truly touched. You did an outstanding job organizing this dignified and lasting tribute. R

Purple Penelope I'm really impressed with the forest and thank all who contribted to it. Have to thank Machell and group for representing the rest of us who are afar and making it so personal. Would love to come through one day and visit in person. Bob is still in our thoughts and memories.....this lets us remember what a great guy he was.

woohoo To get to River Parks Arbor Garden, take I-244(hwy 75) to Tulsa. Get off on the Southwest Blvd exit. Turn left (North) onto Southwest Blvd. Go to 23st and turn right (east) Go over the overpass and turn right into the parking lot. Don't cross the river bridge. Walk south on the path to lampost #80. The park is located on the west side of the river.

To the cemetary: Get back on I-244E and go to the Hwy 75 exit to Bartlesville (left exit) Take hwy 75 to 86th St. N exit and go right.Take 86th st. n. to N.129th E. Ave. and turn left. Go to 116st N. and turn right. the cemetary is ahead on the right. The gravesite is in the Chimes east section lot 143, space 6.

Mickey, please check these directions for me to be sure I am correct. Thanks

wildcat66 Trip to Tulsa to view the trees and to visit the Cemetery! Woohoo, FuryKay, Mickeys and Deb and myself. It was a beautiful day!

The trees are planted near a skate park and a play area. They are on the West side of the River. There is a nice Bike and Ped. walkway going through the park. There is a large parking lot that approx. 50 SSR's could park on! The pathway has Light Posts with numbers on them to mark the area all 4 trees are planted between #80 and #81 Light Posts.

Jan and Mickey had good directions, maybe they could post them so we can add them to our Pin Map. Along with the Cemetery.

Mike in AZ When we come through Tulsa with the caravan on our way to the WDC, I'm planning a stop for Bob's trees. We'll need an accurate location and a place for SSRs to park. Short stop to tie a ribbon or two.

woohoo Let me know if you'd like some company.

wildcat66 Hello all, I got a call from the UP WITH TREES FOUNDATION today, they are planting the trees Sat. April 8th. I will not be able to attend because this is openng day for our sons baseball teams and we have a full day starting with a parade at 9:00, but I will call the family to let them know, if any one in the Tulsa area can make it out that would be great. They are planting at the park near the 21st Bridge. I can get the name off my phone if you need it.

I think I might make a trip up there in May and will place ribbons on the trees and take pictures!
