HI Group,
I received a Lotus Notes from someone within GM last week. I was asked to share with you these helpful points regarding overheating issues that some on here seem to be experiencing with their SSRs..

Marc,
Been reading the SSR web notes and I have a couple of thoughts to share.
1.) They do run hot and don't worry if its in the RED unless its there for a long time.
2.) Yes they do cool faster when it's hotter if you go faster.
3.) The extra foam for the 05 - 6.0 liter around the radiator/ inlet has nothing to do with cooling but is for engine performance. As we don't want outside air contamination (hotter) from the engine compartment.
Regards,

I feel fortunate to be able to receive Lotus Notes from some great sources within GM. Some are Management, some from Engineering and others are from regular UAW members that work at the SSR facility and can communicate through GM's email system. Most of you are aware that they’re a few SSRFanatics that are members of the GM community and or are retired from GM. You should be pleased to know that they monitor this site quite often. One truly great source of knowledge and information comes from our SSRFanatic friend Ed "freezer" who is a recently retired GM Exec. They truly care about the future of the SSR and the people that own them. They take pride in their work and want all of us here to enjoy our ride to the fullest.
PS. Please know that I don't claim to know a lot about most of the technical issues that few of the SSR owners are seeking in this forum. I don't work with assembly plants, design staffs or engineering groups. My connection with GM can be best put this way, I am an 30+ year veteran UAW employee that is happily employed at a GM Powertrain facility. If I can help in relaying or talking with others within GM community or on here I will do my best to share as much information as I am able to.
Regards,
