I went straigt to the General with questions about the 04 vs the 03. I was advised there is no major changes for the 04. There are, however, two new colors for the 04. The following is a quote.

"For 2004, the SSR will not have any major changes. Changes for the 2004 are 2 new exterior colors, which are Ultra Violet Metallic and Ricochet Silver Metallic."

I was going to get Redline Red but if Ultra Violet is a color offered the day that I order mine then that will be my choice. It sorta looks like the color on my 98 Indy Pace car. Purple during the day and blue at night.

Thanks for the info geunther.

I think the 2004 Ultra-Violet would have been my choice - but since my order was for a 2003 I only had the 3 colors to choose from.
My wife said she would not ride with me if I chose yellow (I thought about it for a while then decided not to get her upset), I have had many red vehicles (must admit it is pretty) so I ended up ordering black. Think it will good if kept clean and there are very few if any pictures of the black SSr. It might be a little different.

Black will be a nice color especially after a few years with a wicked flame job on the front.

I have a black Z06, a black Monte Carlo and a black Harley so I've opted to skip black this time.

It not difficult to keep clean. I usually dry my Z06 with a leaf blower which gets all of the water out of the mirrors, seals and joints. Works real good on the Harley which would be hard to dry any other way.

I own every diecast in every color and style of the SSR and when I got my first silver one I wanted an SSR in Silver but they only offered the 3 colors so I ordered mine on March 3rd in Black. If I could I would order a Silver one but I'm tired of waiting for this one already, At least I got it at MSRP + tax & Licence :cheers

I have a Black, Red, and a SIlver die cast. I had to search the Internet to find black. I am not sure about flames -- I was thinking contrasting red pin stripe (paint not tape) might look good. I am fairly new to San Antonio and don't know any painters here. When I lived in Phoenix/Scottsdale and worked at a car dealer, there was guy named "Wolfman" that did beautiful work. I will have to find a guy here. It was really amazing to watch him pinstripe - all freehand.

Go to the local car shows or Hot Rod hangouts and you'll find someone to do the pinstripping

Went black, staying black

Im going to stick with black instead of changing the order. Though there is a concept drawming running around of a silver one. It actually looks good, and I'm not a fan of silver.

Side note. When I was 16 I had a guy pinstripe my truck. Didn't look too hard so thought Id pick that hobby up. Started at junk yards, moved up to friends cars etc. i always thought it was a skill that I could always use. There is less demand for it now. It's hard to compte against a guy with stickers in the mass production world. Of course there will always be a small demand for quality hand laid stripes. If your ever in Wyoming, would be glad to do some work.

If anyone has large copy or can point me to oneof the silver drawing, I would like it for my desktop. (shows both front and rear views)

What part of Wyoming?

I'm taking delivery of my Slingshot Yellow SSR in Missoula Montana - IF my daughter can skip a couple days of school, I might divert thru the Tetons on my way back to California.

Not looking for anything too fancy - just some impressive trim lines etc... What ideas have you had?

thanks

pinstrpes should accent the shape of the vehicle. And, I believe, kept to a minimum for most cars. My style usually consists of two colors, intertwined with each other. Purple and a lighter blue, or purple alone would look good on the ssr yellow, and tie it in to the prototype heritage.

For the ssr I would think along the lines of flowing curves.

I can send or attach come examples of my work if you like.

Unfortunately, I couldnt be any farther from jackson and still be in wyoming, as i am in cheyenne, (southeast corner)
