Final 04 Count

What I have heard from one of my sources at the LCC (Lansing Craft Centre) is when the SSR production hits its final build out for the 2004 MY (Model Year) production count on Aug 20 should come in at 10,676.
Thru August

1,013 ~ 2004 MY Net Aug
439 ~ 2005 MY Net Aug
1,452 ~ Total Units Produced Net Aug
10,676 ~ MYTD Thru Aug
501 ~ MYTD Thru Aug 2004
11,066 ~ CYTD Thru Aug 2004

There have been a lot of numbers given out or estimated for the 03 builds. Here a few bits of info to reflect on. I have been told that there is a book in the works that will have more detailed and exacting figures.

It is my understanding that there were approx. 3,400+ 03s built and out of those units built some of those were validation and or pilot builds that never made it for sale... however, only*3,164 were actually released for sale.

A friend of mine picked up his 04 late last year and his vin is #3382. Again, his early 04 SSR seems to support the fact that there is a definite difference between the total number of 03s built vs. the actual 03s RELEASED FOR SALE.

Ps does anyone have any more info on this?

*I checked my notes on this and it was 3,102 with additional 314 Non-salable and some saleable validation builds for 2003.
*Also I found a thread that stated the first 2004 SSR had a VIN # of 3362.

2003 count

:D :D

There were 3416 SSR's made for the 2003 model year.
How many were released for sale? Not sure.
So, Am I to infer that only those released for sale, are given VIN's?

Yes SSR290 we both seem to agree on the total number SSRs that were produced. (See my earlier reply above)

3,102 - Regular Production SSRs
+ 314 - Validation/ Pilots
3,416 - Total 03's Produced

Now if we can assume that these numbers are indeed correct and if there were only 3,146 released for sale and given the fact that the first VIN # of 04 SN# is 3362. It would appear that there were a number of those validation/ pilots builds that never made it for sale.

3,416 - Total Produced...
-3146 - Total released for sale
...270 - That weren't released for sale

#3361 - Last 03 VIN #
-3146 - Total released for sale
...215 – VIN#s not released for sale?

Now if we can assume there were 270 SSRs made that never were released for sale and if there were 215 that had VIN #s then that should mean there were 55 that didn’t have VIN #s?

.270 - Total # not released for sale
-215 – Had VIN #s
...55 - That had no VIN #s?

Ps. HELP I am really getting frustrated with all these numbers! :skep

basically what gm did was released 200+ (2003 ssr)into the gm employee pool of test cars( know as PEP cars) these first ssr'S were tested due to the fact the power folding top. they wanted the employees of gm to drive them first to see what would happen over long time driving and power top cycles.
how i know this you may ask. i found out on www.gmfamilyfirst.com. they had those units in the company owned vehicle section months ago.

Back to the '04 production numbers...

Does anyone know the numbers produced of each individual color for '04? Now that UV has been removed from production in favor of AB, would this drive the Purple units in a "collectible" direction?

My interest is, so I've been told, my "Penelope" is the first production unit of '04 with # 3438. A fair amount of assuming on my part, but if only several thousands were built, we purple owners may have additional reason to hold on to our assets. My wife knows "my girlfriend" resides in the garage, and also knows I wouldn't give her up for anything.

As a newbie to the site I would like to commend the creators and members for an excellent web site. The information and thoughtfulness from some post reading has me hooked. Thanxx :thumbs

Peace

From Dec 03 to Dec 04 it shows a 14.6% increase. When you factor in that in 03 dealers were charging MSRP + and the supply was minimal as compared to being overstocked and selling at discounted prices in 04 that really isn't an increase. Profits and dollar volume were probably a lot higher on the 03 sales than the 04s.
January Production

577 SSR's (2005 MY) produced in January

Makes for a total of 6,356 2005's produced so far...

Its the last 5 digits in your VIN. Mine is 17623. So there were 17622 built before mine (except for the few 2003's that have no VIN at all).
