This news may lower the value of the 2004 SSR's that dealers are asking more than MSRP. They may even have trouble getting MSRP once this news gets out.

2005 SSR has 395 hp

Those of us that already have our meager 300 hp SSR's might even cry. :banghead

This makes me sick and it will cost me money 'cause I intend to have one of them. Gonna talk to my dealer tomorrow. :puke

Not me - I'm pretty happy with my 300. Saw a brochure for the Ford GT today - 550 hp in a 5.4 liter engine - Superchager is stock. Never gonna catch up - don't want to. :thumbs
Yes, but...

Isn't that a $150,000 vehicle?
Happy with the 2003 / 300Hp, the only place I can really open it up , is the Highway to Las Vegas......or the California Speedway.. I wish!!!
Yes, but

Yeah - but not near as cool looking as the SSR - more interested in that then the 550 hp.

The Ford GT is a $150,000 car but will probably go for no less than $200,000 a copy.
Speaking of the Cal Speedway... The IRL race there in late summer will be paced by an SSR (as all races but INDY) this year. Perhaps we could arrange for a SSR area at the race? It would be nice to have several SSR's on display...???

On the 05 issue: I understand that the '05 may be the final year of production for SSR's. Anybody else hear that??? The dealership that sold me my SSR said he heard that was the plan all along...
SSR production

I read an article a while back where they talked to the head guy at GM. He stated that the SSR production will be around 3500 for 2003, 10,000 for 2004 and 15,000 for 2005 and up. He said the plan was for GM to make the SSR for five years.
I talked with my local dealer this morning. He says that the dealer that is taking orders is just jumping the gun. There is no official release for taking orders on the 2005. That will come in a week or so. So this guy is just doing what any dealer will do. If you want to go in and make a deposit (some will order without, 'cause they will have to order some anyway) they will "get you one on the way" (whenever they can, but they don't say that part.) There has been no news of a 'Vette engine being in an a SSR.
I emailed that dealer and got this reply. He is in a dealership in Michigan.

Hi Mike,

I am sorry but I do not have any official news from GM. One of the SSRs design team just dropped by our dealership in a 05 on Wen. and I was able to take a look at it.

Thanks,

Word is that Jay Leno has a $500,000 bid in for #1
that doesn't surprise me he is really into cars. I am surprised that we don't see more pictures or info about stars owning any of the SSR's I know it isn't as big a deal as other cars but still the cool factor would be a big thing.
HHR is next

The way

The way I understand it is the HHR(High Head Room) is next in line. It is designed after the 49 Chebbie Panel Truck(Suburban).

:cool
If they come out with a panel like that i would have to trade one of my ssrs in for that.
I have been watching the HHR development for some time. THe concept drawings looks very "jeepesque" to me. Kind of like a RAV4 meets Jeep Liberty thing with SSR front fenders. Only will have an aspirated 4 cyl. engine. High volume vehicle. It stands for "Heritage High Roof". Of course, the high roof does give you more head room, just look at the PT Cruiser! Personally, I would rather buy a turbo version of that than the HHR now that I have seen the concepts.
Yeah I have seen the HHR too and it looks like a dodge durango jeep mixture, not sure if I like it or not but would like to see it in person.
HHR correction

Hey thankx 4 the HHR name correction. When I was writing I cudn't remember the real name. Thanx again.

:cool

Plans are to begin producing the HHR in the summer of 05 as an 06 model.
