What is Windbreak and Agua Blur ?
2005

Aqua Blur (26U), as it appears in the picture of the 2005 color selection, seems to be a medium to dark shade of Green. It is a small picture and probably not the best for comparison.

The Windscreen is a tubular frame shaped somewhat like a "D". It has a fine screen inside the frame. It mounts to the Seatback bumpers. This helps keep the air flowing over the vehicle and not to whip back inside the seating area.

I have been waiting for this to be available for almost 3 years.
Can that be a option for older SSR's?

Also were have you seen the 2005 colors. I have been able to find anything on the colors.

Jim, Do you work for a car dealer in Maryland. There is a guy that sales cars in Maryland that also calls himself Diamond Jim.
Colors

The Windscreen should be a simple bolt on for any SSR. It is a Dealer installed option when you order it on a new SSR.

I live in PA, right on the border with NY state. I am not a salesman in Maryland.

I saw the colors in a presentation that I received today from a friend in the business. (Chevy Business)
Thanks for the info. :)

I will be looking forward to getting the windbreak. It would be a big help this summer. :cool

The screen windbreak would be awesome. Please keep an eye and ear out for the part number and if we can order it from the dealer. I would assume that the windbreak would fit all years of the SSR.
Retrofits?

SSR290,

As you can see, many of us would be interested in adding some of these things to our 03 and 04s. The windbreak and struts seem especially appealing and the body has to be so similar that it seems logical they should fit. However, I almost expect GM to make this difficult in order to add incentive to buy a new 05.

5.7 LS2 instead of 6.0? I wonder if this is the 395/395 (HP and torque) that someone else posted. I really thought it would be a 6.0. You added a "may be" to this comment, so I am not sure if you know, but I am curious. What's the scoop?
all 05 ssr will have 6.0 engine and horsepower has not been released but gm execs say it is not the truck engine but a modified version of the corvette engine
Are you saying the 5.3 is gone?
that is what I was told
windscreen

anyone find that this is available, please post details.

More on 2005

Some 'skinny' from a friend at GM:

> The 6.0L will be the only available engine in the '05 SSR. There was some thought to offer the 5.3L as late as 2-3 weeks ago but it seems this is not to be so if you want a regular fuel SSr buy one of the many '03 or '04's around;

> '05 Production is set to commence August 23/04 : this means delivery at your dealer mid September. They plan to make 15000 units for the model year but there are concerns that the vehicle is not moving.

> There are a lot of '03/'04 SSr's around : production for the 2003 (3500) and the 2004 (14000 or so) is less than 50% 'sold' and there is no question that the SSr model is backing up as there is a lot of price resistance to the fully loaded trucks most dealers have in stock and the insistance of some dealers to hold the line on MSRP or MSRP plus level. (seems that GM is :mad about the significant levels of gouging that went on early on. Note that the majority of SSr's that are being delivered are being sold in the low to mid $40k level, well below MSRP and hardly above dealer invoice (before holdback) but some dealers are still getting full pop.

Am I understanding correctly that the 6.0L will require higher octane fuel than the 5.3L? (Maybe I'm getting an excuse for my impatience and not waiting for a 2005 model! :))
I don't understand paying $50,000 for a car and still complaining about having to buy premium fuel :confused

Because of the high gas prices I've been driving my 405 hp Z06 to work
since it get about 10 more miles per gallon than the 300 hp SSR. :lol

Everyone is complaining about gas prices. I have a Jeep Wrangler also and that gets the worse gas mileage. So when I bought the SSR I love the fact that it gets better mileage than the Jeep. :cool

The SSR also gets better mileage than my Hummer H2. Hummer -----> 11 mpg.

Dealers in Houston are begging folks to buy Hummers. Dealer on I-10 at Dairy Ashford has them lined up down the block.
