I'll throw this out there.
Deadwood, SD? I've stayed at the Lodge at Deadwood, its large about 150 rooms, several meeting facilities, restaurants, Casino and the rooms and location are beautiful. There are several good hotels for overflow in Deadwood and Lead and nearby RV parks and campgrounds. Room rates there are very reasonable.
We will need to stay clear of the Sturgis Rally dates in August.
The area is full of great attractions nearby like Deadwood, Devils Tower, Crazy Horse Memorial, Rushmore and many more. The Black Hills Area is much underappreciated! The drive down 14 through Spearfish Canyon is one of the top 10 scenic drives on my list.
Maybe Auggie can chime in on this!! Location is fairly central and may also encourage some more of our Canadian Fanatics to join the fun.

Stopped at Deadwood on way back from Ogden last May. Beautiful area, would go back in a heartbeat.

I would love the Deadwood area, BUT I think Auggie is the only SSR owner for a long ways and I don't think he would want to do this by himself.

Good ideas to be kicking around ! This is how you start We have so many newer SSR owners that we could go back to areas we had a great time in but the big thing is finding people to devote time to putting it on as it,s a lot of work as some of you know ! It,s hard to try and talk as a lot to people in other states as a lot have went to email to keep in touch. we went to Arkansas last week on short notice and wanted to catch up with some in Little Rock didn,t work Kart3d

I am surprised that no one has suggested Las Vegas. Or Reno.

I'm not voting for either of these places but since they, especially Vegas, are such magnets for conventions and such, I wonder why they have not been mentioned.

Just saying.

Just want to say, no matter where we go.. it's going to be a blast. And I will be more than happy to pass on all that worked and didn't work at the 2017 rally.

Most of our SSR are not garage queens... they are road warriors. So, pick a spot and these funny little trucks will show up like love bugs on the windshield.

And that's the way it is.

  • We were very disappointed in the hotel at Branson. We had a room on the north side of the building about 6 floors above the kitchen prep areas. The outside deck area was covered with flys from the garbage odor. We asked for a "fly swatter" and the foreign help could not understand why we wanted "fly water" finally they sent up the maid who was from America and she got it taken care of. Needless to say the flys were back the next day. We ssked to speak to the hotel manager before check out and later prior to completion of a hotel survey. No response.
  • We also noted that several shops and restaurants were closed for the season. I guess our group wasnt big enough to have the hotel staff and shops at full strenghth.
We were also disappointed with hotel it just reeked with the smell of greed ($20. for microwave & $25. for fridge per day in your room) plus most of staff seem to be foreign help, had trouble understanding us & we had trouble understanding them. One night about 11:30 I went to desk to ask if she would put the heater on for a couple of ladies having a smoke & ended up having to walk outside with her and pointing to heater, response I don't know how will have to call my supervisor, heater finally got put on took about 10 minutes. Also found every time you were going into hotel it was uphill & downhill when you went out, this was very hard on a lot of fanatics. Plus being Canadian we have now been to Branson, time to see another part of America.
Now don't get me wrong we found David & his helpers did a wonderful job, the organization was A+ for the size of the crowd.
Just our thoughts!

I think when you find someone or a group that is willing to put out the effort it takes to run one of these events, I think that should be considered, and let them run with it, time is ticking...if you don't like it you don't have to go.
just my 2 cents

When the Laughlin Rally ran it's course, the Las Vegas Mob ran a replacement in Las Vegas and while a success, there were issues in moving a large group of vehicles around Las Vegas due to the Normal Crowded Situation. Conventions normally do not move all of their people around all at the same time in 2 seater vehicles.
Just my observation as a participant. I suspect the same would apply for Reno.

I think several things need to happen to move this discussion along.

1. Establish a method/poll to identify the next location.
2. Determine the best possible time of year for holding the event in that location.
3. Identify those in that area that will be willing to volunteer their time to make it happen.
4. Establish a small committee consisting of those folks, along with other key individuals
who have prior experience in hosting one of these events to serve in a advisory capacity.
5. Identify hotels in the area large enough to host a group of our size.
6. Decide how this committee will get the funds needed for deposits that may be required
for hotel, venues, and other service providers. We should not expect one person to be
responsible for all of the funding when putting an event like this together.

Ultimately, not everyone will be satisfied with everything at these events. But it is the best opportunity for us all to come together as Fanatics, make new friends, learn more about our SSR’s and have a memorable time, while seeing another part of our great country.

I hope that there are groups considering planning the next International. Ohio has asked for the poll to check interest in that location. Do not let that discourage others from considering their options. The clock is running and these things do not come together quickly.

I agree Dwight! We are no where near submitting a request to host the International Rally....

We are still working on hosting the 2021 International Rally in Ohio! Finding a nice affordable Host hotel is the hold up at this point. All the cool and interesting activities is the easy part! Stay tuned! ?

2021 INTERNATIONAL SSR RALLY

I AM EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE 2021 INTERNATIONAL SSR RALLY WILL BE HOSTED BY THE OHIO CHAPTER IN CINCINNATI, OHIO!

THE RALLY WILL BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER, 2021, SPECIFIC DATES TO FOLLOW. LARRY CAMERON (HUAW) WILL BE THE EVENT COORDINATOR. HE AND HIS TEAM WILL POST INFORMATION AS THINGS PROGRESS!

I APPRECIATE THE ENTIRE TEAM'S EFFORTS IN CONTINUING TO PURSUE THE RALLY DESPITE THESE VERY UNSETTLING TIMES. HOPEFULLY, WE WILL ALL BE BACK TO NORMAL BY THEN AND EVERYONE WILL SUPPORT THIS 2021 INTERNATIONAL RALLY AS YOU SUPPORTED THE MISSOURI CHAPTER IN BRANSON!
