THANK YOU DALE!!! You are such a resource to our hobby, you just keep giving, I hope you live forever! I'm not familiar with the importance of the "Auto Club 500-CA Speedway". I'll look it up here on the site. Thanks again, and Happy New Year Buddy!:smile2:

GM makes more Corvettes in a year than the entire 2003-2006 SSR Production.
That is why me thinks they will be getting rarer, and will never go out of style!

Another interesting point, Gordy . . .

I wonder why the majority of the SSRs are scheduled for Tuesday which is one of the "slow days" at the Barrett-Jackson.

The Big Bucks Guys after the "record breakers" usually don't show up until Friday and Saturday, sometimes on Thursdays.

I know a gentleman that has 2 Hemi Mopars in the sale, and was told that Fri Evening and Saturday's are reserved for the high dollar cars. I guess money talks [email protected]#$%*t walks..:smile2:

Absolutely, Gordy.

I have been a regular at the Barrett-Jacksons in Scottsdale for decades, long before I opted to relocate to Tucson back in the late 90s and, sadly, that "policy" seems to have escalated over the last decade or so.

Unfortunately, the sales results for the SSRs will be compromised due to their Tuesday position.

This wouldn't work for me, especially if it was a no reserve auction. I'd be a nervous wreck until it was sold and when it sold, I'd (probably) have a sore butt from kicking myself for doing it in the first place. lol

Thanks Gord
I should have clarified the Auto Club SSR info a bit.
It is one of 43 Auto Club 500 SSR's used to promote the race which took place at the California Speedway, not to be confused with the 43 MY2004 :ssr that are referred to as the "California Speedways"

One of my many unfinished project threads!

SSR's were used as promotional vehicles at several races (ie Daytona, Phoenix) but other than the MY2005 Indy Parade & MY2006 Brickyards finding them with the original decals is becoming quite rare.
IMO, at this time the promotional activity does little to enhance the value of these SSR's. (exceptions are the Signature Series, Brickyards and Indy Parades)

However, I think it is good to pass on this sort of history to subsequent owners, otherwise it will just disappear.

Something to talk up your SSR about at car shows anyway

Spent the Day at Barrett-Jackson Clissic Car Auction. As promised, Sales Results have been added to the first post. I'm a bit surprized the 2004 UV only hammered out at $19,000.00, + Fees, it was a nice truck. Not too many UV's made. I guess UV is an aquired taste.

I was there when they ran the purple, blur and yellow through and also had a chance to take a closer look. The yellow was the straightest and showed a lot less wear. The other two were something from a very used car lot. Blur showed the most wear especially on the interior. Seats had been “repair” upholstered with the wrong materials. I’m not surprised it went for less. Really showed the mileage. The one on Sunday I hadn’t seen nor he black. There was a yellow one with flames there.

No Financial and/or Vehicle Appreciation Expect and have never considered a vehicle to be an investment, however . . .

From what I observed last night while watching the Barrett-Jackson on TV, the SSRs are "holding their own" a helluva lot better than most of those foreign vehicles (BMWs and Mercedes, etc) of the same era which originally retailed for considerably more.

Hopefully, this trend will continue to improve as the better maintained, more expensive vehicles are scheduled to cross the block later this week, an established policy for the Barrett-Jackson.

Fingers and Toes Crossed . . .
