I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Howard and I live in Valencia, CA near Magic Mountain Park.

I have been admiring the SSR for many years and just want to tell everyone you have an incredible vehicle. I have spent many months reading your posts and have realized what a great group of owners you are. There is always someone around to help another SSR owner when they need advice or have a problem.

I would love to own a SSR but at this time it is not possible. The reason for this is I own a 2001 Orange Prowler which is equally as nice as the SSR. My car just like yours turns heads. As people in the Prowler club say, “You get a smile a mile when you drive a Prowler”. Maybe some day, I will buy a SSR.

It is real interesting to read many of the posts. SSR owners seem to love their vehicles just like Prowler owners do. Both vehicles seem to have problems, but there is always someone who can come up with an answer to solve the problem. In the Prowler group, I have met a great deal of friends who would go out of their way to help me. I can see SSR owners would do the same.

I just want to conclude by saying once again the SSR is a great looking vehicle. If any SSR owner would like to take a ride with a Prowler owner please email me. The look on people’s faces when they see a Prowler and SSR together would make for a Kodak moment.

Thanks.

Howard

A Prolwer Owner ?? what is that?? lol.. must be one them POA boys... :lol
Now Now, Be friendly :)

I like Prowlers, would have bought one except the chrysler/plymouth dealers had even bigger dollar signs in their eyes than the Chevy dealers had for the SSr. As I recall the local guy was asking 60k for a vehicle with a sticker price of 39k.

Howard, you're right. There are alot of parallels between the SSR and prowler. Many folks on this site are either current or former Prowler owners. If your Prowler owner's group is anywhere near as friendly or helpful as this group, then you've got yourself one heck of a good group of folks! :thumbs

As we say to one another; "Enjoy the ride".

Ok

I'll bite, I live in Santa Clarita and I think I have seen that Prowler drive on some of my streets. We may as well get to know each other because until we do I will continue to look at you and you will look at me. I have the best color that GM offered for this great vehicle......That being, of course, Ultra Violet. You can e-mail me at [email protected]. In case you have not figured me out, I can ba a little  , but it is all in fun. Lets get together soon. Happy Motoring ......That is blaze with the underscore _ [email protected] I just noticed that the underscore is hidden. steve

Parked next to a black/silver prowler at a recent car show - our corner definitely got a lot of attention - then another Prowler showed up with a full length running spotted cat airbrushed on one side, and a relaxed cat on the other - pretty cool look.

Having them parked together definitely showed the greater practicality of the SSR - both are attention magnets, but the SSR carries the day on function.

Prowler

The Prowler is definitely a collectors item and does turn heads. The SSR is just a little more practical for me and seems to get all the attention I need? If I see an orange Prowler out there I'll try to catch you to say, "Hello." Thanks for the acknowledgment of our SSR and our friendly SSRFanatic group. :thumbs :thumbs

I for one truly appreciate your comments. Thank you for making my day. I have always loved the prowler and have built the model in purple. That was a hard toy model to build!
Ed:)

Ed, didn't know that you liked the Prowler. I have a friend who owns one in VB. He is part owner of Goldbar Jewelers at Hilltop. If you ever need to buy Kris something nice, go there ask for Roger, mention my name, and tell him that you'd like to check out his car. His is a daily driver and is parked at Hilltop somewhere when he is working.

After I left your house Sat. I saw an Aqua Blur in the Farm Fresh parking lot. It had Hall dealer plates....so I guess it might not have a 'real' owner.

Good to see you walking around (and driving).....

Yes it is.....like I said, if you want to meet the owner, he is Roger at Goldbar Jewelers. As a matter of fact, probably the only reason I have an 2003 SSR now is he is the one that showed me a picture of the concept vehicle in a magazine waaaay back.

Probably wouldn't have had an SSR if not for Prowler

Always loved the Prowler and vowed to one day have one! Even visited the Prowler's Owner Association site frequently and was impressed how much the owners loved their vehicles. I came one mouse click away from buying a Mulholland edition 2001 in March of this year. Fortunately, my wife convinced me to rent one at an exotic car rental. Looked great in the driveway, but I was actually fairly disappointed with the ride (VERY rough). Then went and conviced a Chevy dealer I was interested enough in the SSR to take one out of the showroom for a test drive. I was hooked almost from the instant I heard that well-known throaty purrr of the LS2. What convinced me about the SSR was that it had the looks AND was REALLY FUN to drive!!! That, and you could actually pick up a few groceries or bring a gym bag with you!

The Prowler is definitely one of the coolest-looking production vehicles of all time, but boy am I glad that I decided to check out the SSR! Haven't looked back!!

Prowler and now SSR owner

Yep, had a Prowler for over a year now. Will get the SSR tomorrow. Love them both for what they are. You will never know the way the Prowler will bring out the hand gestures, smiles, gasps and what is that looks until you have ridden in one. Yes it rides a little rough. Yes it is not very roomy inside. Yes it doesn't have the storage like an SSR. But put them side by side and see where the people will gravitate to.

It's hard to say this but the Prowler will be the fun car and the SSR will be the daily driver. But I can handle that. I could never dump the Prowler and I expect to keep the SSR for many years to come if not for ever (unless someone comes up with something that will make my head spin like the SSR and Prolwer).

The Prowler is so much fun and I'm expecting the same thing for the SSR. I also have to mention that this forum is almost exactly like the Prowler forum in that everyone is so helpful and ready to jump in at a moments notice. Glad I found you all prior to buying my SSR. I have some mods to do once I get this thing as referenced on the forum from moleskin to front bumper brace to other lighter things such as decals, etc. All in time and thanks ahead of time to all of you for your help and guidance. Hope to meet some of you in the coming years at events around the area and possibly in farther outlining places. Got to get with Jeff from Ormond as we are only down the street from one another. I'll give you a ride in the Prowler too and you can see for yourself!

Enough for now...

I have owned 4 Prowlers and I really liked their looks and I feel that the Prowler got more looks than the SSR but, the one problem I had was there was no ABS and the way I drive I lost it once on a four lane highway and did a 180 across all four lanes -- there wasn't any control. Will not purchase another one ---still bothers me to this day! My .02 worth.

I have a 2001 Prowler , a 1934 Ford Street Rod, had a 2004SSR and I´m getting a 2005 (or 06) SSR late 05 or early 2006. The SSR fits in the Hot Rod scene a bit like the Prowler. The Prowler is more Hot Rod than the SSR, I meen, the ride comfort is not better than in my 34" Rod . Thats what I like on the SSR. Nice high seat position, more ride comfort, powerful LS-2 V8 and a large trunk.
The Prowler is the perfect headturner and the best stress-free Street Rod alternativ ride.
