If your blower motor was on setting "2" and you heard a "knock-knock-knock" noise coming from the blower motor, then yes this is a "known" issue. My SSR had this issue. There's a TSB out on the issue:

"Advance Service Info - Blower Motor Noise on Second Speed Setting (Fix Not Yet Available) #04-01-38-004 - (Mar 4, 2004).

2003 - 2004 Chevrolet SSR"

My service department replaced the blower motor stating "problem fixed". When I drove off of the lot and turned on the blower motor - guess what - it wasn't fixed. That's when I looked on the NHTSA website and found a TSB on this issue and the document reference I noted above was "found" by the service department after my report to them that a TSB exists.

I don't know if it's been fixed yet since I no longer have that SSR.
