Has anyone added a supplemental alarm? My husband is getting paranoid - I think he would like something that will call his cell phone if someone is standing too close to his SSR in the parking lot!

The extended option with LoJack will notify up to (I think) 6 phone numbers or email addresses if someone other than you starts up and takes the vehicle.

Tip on Theft Prevention

Do this whenever I'm out of my comfort zone - ie motels, or where I have to leave the keys with a Valet/potential test driver.

I take the starter solenoid out of the under hood fuse box, and into the motel with me - can't go anywhere, short of pushing it.

We have a second alarm on ours. But it does not have the opion to page use if anything happens.
What kind do you have? And are you happy with it? I would love to go to a movie or the mall again, or eat somewhere besides Checkers at a table 5 feet from the SSR! I can't believe how bad he's gotten - he is the one who has always told me "don't worry, it's insured", "drive it like you stole it", etc. when I get neurotic about my car, and now he's a basket case about his SSR! :lol

I know it is a viper but the model number I will have to get for you. I will send you a PM by this weekend. I have to pull out the owners manual. We live in the City and we don't drive the vehicle that much. So for our peace of mind we added the second alarm. We still use the factory alarm and the viper alarm. We are very happy with the second alarm. Now we don't spend half the night getting out of bed looking out the window or going on a trip and worring if someone is going to mess with it. Check with your local viper dealer and ask them for there advice also they might have a better chose for you and your needs.

But in your husbands case. I feel just like him. Park in the back of the lot and try to always take up two spaces. But if I can't then we feel comfortable about leaving the vehicle parked somewhere and it will still be there.

People looking at the truck you can't do anthing about it. I am glad that I have something that everyone wants to look at. :cool He is only doing this becuase it is new. Wait until that weres off. I was the same way when we first bought ours.

Vettegirl,

I have a remote starter and additional alarm on my SSR. The alarm does give me the added protection because both alarms have to be disabled if someone is trying to take the vehicle. The alarm has a motion sensor which will also trigger the alarm if the car is hit or the window broken, etc. The alarm will also send you a signal if this happen. So if you are in your home, office, etc the alarm will signal you with a display of the activity. In other words, if your car is being hit the alarm with chirp /vibrate and have a symbol that shows the car being hit or broken into. The alarm is good for about (35) feet or more. I have never tested it's limits but I have been able to disarm my car from a block away. Also this alarm can be programed to pop the trunk. This alarm also is the first alarm to offer a color screen. All of it's signals/alerts are in color. Now, if you get the alarm that I have which has the remote start feature, you can program the vehicle to start while you are inside your house, office, etc. I have activited both the alarm and the starter from about a block away. The remote start feature also disables the engine if someone gets into your car and trys to operate it without the key. The key must be in the car before you can drive away. Specifically, after starting your car with the remote starter, as soon as you get into the car you insert the key in the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. Do not "Crank" the car. Just turn the key to "On". You can then shift out of park and drive away.
It is great! Now if you also get the alarm and remote starter that I have the alarm also has the ability to be programmed to lower the convertable top remotely. I am scheduled to have mine programmed to do that next Tuesday. You will also need some additional minor equipment (inexpensive-so I'm told) to do this.

Good luck. Protect you baby!

More input....

ECurtis, please pass on the brand, model number, additional pieces and parts used and cost. Curious minds want to know.

Diggs

P.S. I added an alarm to the 04 GTO but it was mainly for the passive alarm part. It uses the factory key fob, which was a big plus for me. It is a Crime Guard and came from Crutchfield. I don't have to lock the doors when leaving the car - it does it by itself. I also have the motion sensor so if I leave the windows down it will alarm if someone reaches inside. I am thinking about doing the same thing to the SSR but would really like to have the remote top down feature.
