I decided that the silver lining in being unemployed is that I have time to take some time off and go to some of my favorite places.
The most favorite are the Rocky Mountains, and specifically, ski resorts that operate their ski lifts in the summer so you can ride to the top and view The World from a different perspective.
In the past, it's always been Colorado, but this time I'm practicing stepping outside the box, and so it's northern New Mexico: Santa Fe, Taos, and Angel Fire. At least 2 ski resorts, Taos and Angel Fire, operate their lifts during the summer (Taos only Thursday thru Friday, Angel Fire 7 days a week!!)
I've got a 1/4 million Hilton points (traded my American Airlines points for Hilton!), and some Marriott points too, so I'm booked at a Homweood Suite in Santa Fe for at least 3 nights. After that, who knows? Depends what I find!
Any SSR fanatics out there in that area? If so, I would love to meet up for a ride. The ski country scenery is supposed to be gorgeous there.
The SSR is gassed up and packed.
I'll be in Tucumcari by Sunday evening, and Santa fe by Monday afternoon, on the way to those 10,000 to 12,000 feet-elevation ski lifts. The World will look better from there.
