I picked a Black SSR over an Ultra-Violet because of my plan to go two-tone similar to the Diamondback but without the CF finish. I also thought that I'd be a little sick of purple every day, though I did have a purple car for 5 years once before. (It wasn't quite as intense though - Chevy's Hawaiian Orchid Metallic, 1996 Cavalier)

Now I'm stressing over getting the paint job done and am starting to wish I'd gotten UV. I take the SSR in this week for the We Owe stuff to be done and will have a chance to look again at the UV - should I consider offering a tradeup? The price difference was only about 1k as the UV has Chromes on it. I've put ~180 miles on the Asphalt one or so.

I'm also kind of jealous of the SSRs with the color trim inside - mine's Black of course and as such doesn't really pop. Maybe if I go 2-tone I'll do the inside trim in the second color.

*sigh*

If I might add if you had purple before you might not want to go back to it again for awhile.

I had a hard time deciding on what color I wanted also... back and forth from silver to red to black then back to silver. No matter what color you pick there is always a second guess on what you should have gotten.

Only you can decide whats best for you... no matter what color you get it must be something you like. I can tell you what I like but then I won't be driving it will I?

Good luck in your decession... no matter what color you have you won't regret having the coolest vehicle on the road! :thumbs

I never second guessed my color. I Love Yellow. But I think you can do a lot with the black to make it look even more outstanding. Just like the Little Black Dress. Dress it up or dress it down. But only you can choose.

I agree with Mark on the colors.. im crazy about YELLOW MELLOW.. what i call it..lol... but i have a chance still for a silver one.. I dont know if i can do silver but GOSH Mark's silver one looks GREAT!!

Oh i hate to say this, but their most likely not going to just let you off the hook for another 1 grand to do the switch in colors on the SSR's unless you know them or have connections at that dealership, your now driving a used SSR in their books... i bought a black Z28 once and took it back four weeks later with little to no miles on it and i took a pretty good hit to trade it in on a white vehicle. i just cant do black either....LOL...

Keep us posted..

If you have second thoughts, get or do what makes you happy...life is too short.

I never regretted a thing I have done in life....(except maybe one or two mornings following a pounding hangover)...and I sure wouldn't start with a primo SSR!

Personally I think an opportunity to 2-tone it would be well worth it....specially when you figure what it will cost to go UV.

my $.02

Personal Choice

Personally, take any color you can get, then make it your own. I did, and I love mine more now than I did before. Get creative with it, mild or wild it'll be great.

jammadave, I hardly ever miss an opportunity to rib the folks on this site about their SSR colors (especially "Marc NY silver" :) ), and in return my truck has been called "The blurple barneymobile"! (I know, people can be so cruel :lol ). But the important thing to remember here is that:
It's an SSR baby! There ain't no bad colors!!

You will like what you get

I have to tell you. I wanted Yellow from the start and my wife was dead set against it. She wanted red, so we settled for UV. I had not seen that color on the car or in a brochure, so...... when it finally came in and I went to pick it up I about fell over. I thought it was the ugliest color purple I had ever seen. It took me until I got to the street in front of the dealership to change my mind. A guy on the street was looking so hard at my car that he rear ended the people in front of him. He got out of his car and came over to me and (jokingly) blamed me for the mishap because he had never seen such a gorgous color on a "HOTROD" Funny how that made me look at my car in a different way.......I Love the color .... Now if I could just find the Purple bowties for the wheel covers I will be completely satisfied.

Thanks for the compliments... as you can tell I really enjoy making up different animations. To be honest I used a canned logo one off their site and played around with the right angled SSR to try to fit it in correctly... changed the background to night time and added some blinking stars and made the turn signals flash too ... viola!

As to Hepaid4MySSR's moving Avatar I actually borrowed the one that Beer100 had made up in yellow and then added all the SSR colors into it and then made an animated bowtie. I thought that she might want to have that one too. :thumbs

:confused I had a choice between Silver, Aqua Blur, and black but I picked the Silver because I thought it looked more sophisticated ;-)

Actually I had back cars before as well as blue and they all get dusty/dirty too fast and you are washing them all the time. If you got the time and desire to clean them every few days then so be it.

I had 2 Silver Sebring's (95 and 96) and I still miss those cars, I have a White Sebring convertible as my every day car (98) and the Silver SSR is my fair weather car. :ssr

I traded my 00' Camaro Z06 custom for it :-( (my baby) and I have only drive my SSR about 5 times in two weeks (Spring weather here sucks!) And I am going through withdraw! I do miss my Camaro though

When we finally decided to make the BIG purchase, we ended up getting agreat deal on a black one (and I -shame on me- thought it looked richer than the other colors) and from day one my husband, while happy to finally HAVE a SSR, wasn't acting right. He finally admitted he'd wanted yellow from day one and so, after about two months, called our dealer back and made a trade (with a few dollars thrown in of course; well maybe more than just a few!) for his Slingshot Yellow SSR. He hasn't stopped smiling since. Of course, it helps that he's been working with this particular salesman and dealership for over 25 years..... :lol

My Barney

When I thought about getting an SSR, I initially wanted a yellow one. I didn't know they came in UV, until I saw an ad for one at a nearby dealership. When I went go see it, they had a yellow one, too, so I had the chance to compare them side by side. The yellow was bright and fun-looking, but that metallic purple was so gorgeous in the sun reflecting all the different colors of blues and purples over the contours of the SSR, that it just looked like it had more depth. In comparison, the yellow color was flat, but that's the nature of a non-metallic paint.

Everyone who's seen my SSR has commented on how good the color looks, and that they've never seen one that color before. If they had seen an SSR before, it was usually red or yellow. So, I enjoy having a unique vehicle to begin with, then having a unique color adds an extra plus.

Purple can be a cheesy color for a car depending on the shade, but this one is deep and rich - a very classy hot-roddy color. It has the color of high-grade amythest which is a gemstone that's said to bring good luck and good health. So, I'm covered all the way around!

But, like Fuzzy says, you can make it look any way you want and dress up / change your color to suit you. I will be adding some color and graphics to mine soon!

Enjoy it, it's an SSR!

The first couple SSR's I ever seen were red and I really liked them and said I am going to get one of them some day, Then I seen a black one and silver but said no will get a red one one day, Then me and my brother was driving past a lot and there set a yellow with chrome wheels, In the lot we went, A close look, Asked what the low dollar cash was, He said $48,000 anyway you want to pay for it, Had running boards and I asked how much without the boards and he said $48,000 but will take them off for free, After a while he said OK will take the running boards off and give you $500 off so went home got the money took it to the bank and changed it to a check and took it to him,
