I use a CTEK and plug it in the aux port in the bed. I used it on my vette not the R. I ran a new Optima into the ground with the R sitting all winter. It wouldn't charge or take a jump. The CTEK has a restore function and when I plugged it in 2 days later that battery was like new. That was Feb. Still running strong.

Fire investigators believe a faulty Battery Tender Jr. caused this fire that two weeks ago destroyed my brother’s shop. In it we’re two restored 31 Model A’s, two Harley’s Davidsons, and an award winning 61 Ford Galaxy 500 convertible, tools, spare parts, etc. Investigators believe the battery tender on one of the Harleys failed to go into “float” mode and “cooked” the battery, causing it to explode. Bottom line: use them, but check those tenders and batteries once in a while!
