I was hoping to find out if anyone has found a bed extender that'll fit the SSR. There is an aftermarket at Pep Boy's that they say will fit, but before I pick one up to try it I wanted to see if anyone else had tried to set one up.

The skis are a little too long to fit inside the closed bed.

Well, I don't know about the extended rack idea but I might try something like this

1. Using two mounted to the tonneu cover:

http://www.canoegear.com/catalog/home.php?cat=42

With this setup you would probably have to flag the skis or mount some type of blinking light to the ends to keep people from hitting them if you lay the skis flat on both mounts. Maybe you could place the skis at an angle from corner to corner and they would fit? Of course you could always modify the front mount with some type of extender pole so that the front part of the skis sat at an angle over the cab.

Using something like this would still allow you to keep things locked in the back when you stop for a break during the drive to the slope.

2. Also, you cold ask one of the local metal fabrication shops to build you a mount that would fit the existing tralier hitch hole either using or not using the actual hitch. Then you could mount them vertically like a bike rack.

Just a few alternate ideas ..........

good idea

that type of rack could work with a surf board, too (and be a great look). Thanks for the info--
