As much as I love the SSR, I am a fan of big cubic inches. The last serious performance boat I had had a pair of naturally aspirated 588cu in motors. I haven't seen or heard of anyone trying to stuff, say a 502 or even a 454 in an SSR. Obviously, there would be some issues. Has anyone heard of such an attempt?

LS7 crate motor will fit real nice

Not sure if there would be enough room for a big block. They are quite a bit wider and certainly much heavier than the LS1.

The LS7 motor is now available as a crate motor. It is a 427CI "small block" with 500 HP. Same size and same weight as the LS1. Bolt right in for around $13.6K. For a little more power, a Magnuson SC on top of that baby ought to produce over 600 HP.

The big blocks are not only wider but also longer than the small block by approximately 6 "s

Just swapped out a 402 big block for a 400 small block. The big block now sits on an engine stand waitng for a check up.
