So what do you think of a yellow SSR as a Congressional Campaign vehicle? I don't have a lot of choice since it gets the "best" mpg of my vehicles and is the most comfortable to drive. OR's 2nd Congressional District is bigger than most states and I've got a Democratic Primary to try to win. For the uninformed, 2nd CD reaches from WA-CA & ID-Cascade Mountains & a bit SW of them. Big place.

I figure magnetic signs, blue with red lettering. Chuck for Congress (useful after the primary). Now, how big and where?

Magnetic...

signs.

Have them done on a yellow backround that matches the truck, That way only the lettering shows up and not the magnetic sign.

Did that for a lady in town that I built a 40 chevy panel truck for her flower shop.
Truck was Kandy Brandywine and the sign backround matched, so it looked like the lettering was painted on the truck. She took the magents off for going to car shows.

Whoa

I can appreciate the fact you are mixed up with SSR's and such but I think you should post such letters to the general off topic area or keep it to a specific question about our trucks.
I enter this forum to read about our trucks and learn about others experiences.
I don't appreciate reading about people's political leanings in a forum about SSR's.
Good luck with your political endeavours but lets keep it to the SSR subject.
And spend the money and have it painted on. Use the campaign bucks to have it repainted afterward.
Thanks,
Joel

Not in an SSR

I think "truth in advertising" laws should make mandatory to campaign for political office in a garbage truck, not a cool truck like an SSR!:nono

Garbage Truck

That is unfortunately deserved. It is also why we get who we get. When voter turn-out is around 50%, then 26% (roughly) decide who wins office. The Primaries are worse for turn-out, so sometimes a good candidate goes nowhere because nobody believes it makes a difference. It means little "on line", but I can assure you that the personal difference between myself and most politicians is considerable. I'm pretty sure nobody on Fanatics is in my Congressional District, so I'm not campaigning.

Trying to make a living and campaign is about nuts, I haven't been here since 3/5 and I was a daily (nearly) visitor. Just because of the truck, not because it needed anything, I don't mess with it. I have an actual hot rod so the SSR is fast enough, but mostly way cool enough. I'll get decent gas milage on regular, have an adequate space for luggage & misc campaign junk, get good handling (look at a map!!), comfort, and coolness factor.

Blue signs w/yellow letters 16"x36" "Chuck Butcher for Congress"
I looked at car wraps, too much mess. I can't get a yellow that's close enough for background, letters on blue will work. As far as painting it, well now, the incumbent beat the last guy 75-25 and the guy before 65-35, maybe I don't want to count on a Congressman's pay for re-painting...especially in a Primary with 3 other candidates to beat first.

thanks for the good wishes
Chuck

I disagree whole heartedly, If Chuck posted that he was thinking of using his SSR to promote his "Butcher Shop" (sorry Chuck didn't know what you do for a living, too easy eh?) you wouldn't have said jack about it.

What I read is a guy with an SSR, who's part of THIS SSR community asking about how to dress up his truck and looking for ideas.

I've read posts about people asking what color flames to get, what two tone color to use etc. I don't see the big difference.

My only opinion would be if you felt the SSR would appear too flashy for your constituants (sp?) OR if it would distract too much from your message. You know you may get attention but you may get more questions about the platform your SSR is built on as opposed to the platform your campaign is built on. Just a thought.

Good Luck Chuck

The yellow is known to be the "Hey, look at me" color. Leverage it for all it's worth.

You could even put a vertical sign running the length of the rear cover (short of clearance for the top retraction) right down the center of the cover. A few nicely padded feet and some well placed tenioning lines to rhe sides and you would have a billboard. Kinda reminiscent of the way politicians used to put billboards in the back of pickup trucks....

Good Luck on your campaign, Chuck.

Dear Sir:
My BLUE SSR and myself would be Democrats. As for my state, California's experiments in the red (Republicans) have been absolute disasters.

I don't really believe cars have party affiliation. As a matter of fact, send me any good candidate and he/she will have my vote.

As a campaign vehicle, a yellow SSR is a great parade vehicle! Watch out for overheating. Consider an ecological propane conversion (good image with both parties). Be honest and not promise a chicken in every pot and a SSR in every garage.

Black or dark blue on yellow (or yellow on black or dark blue) have the highest visual impact and memory recall. Red is a great accent, drawing the eye first. This from my advertising and graphics background.

Nice to be called sir but most the time look out when someone starts out with Dear Sir. I could care a rats behind what party you are or what party you think is a absolute disaster, This is a SSR forum, For SSR not politics or parties or politicians, I made a joke, Maybe I shouldn't have but there is to much hate in politics to bring it here, Just my 2 cents

Senatorial protocol is sorely missing...

... in political dialogue. I was just following the rules of decorum. I was not looking for hate. Please accept my apollogies, and my observation that you need to "CHI-" Double-L.

I was jesting your jest. A Pacific Blue SSR as a democrat was meant to be funny (i.e. blue state/red state). FYI I am a special education teacher, so my humor is hopelessly skewed. I truly believe if we cared more about each other we wouldn't get sooooo heated.

chuckbutcher is a politician asking about his usage of his SSR as a promotional vehicle. He is not registering his truck to vote. This is a forum for all (politician, special education teachers, or whatever profession have you...) who have SSR specific questions.

I yield the floor.

The "Goat Avatar" belongs to the independent, democratic left wing libertarian communistic, catholic party, with reforms in the right wing Family valued constitutional socialistic green labor party, we trace our roots back to the strong ties in the independent light, natural law prohibiton party in conjecture with the socialist revolutional prohibition party and the southern independent pacification party of veterans, while most people just think we are part of the Pot Party.

In actuality, we just like to party. I hope this clears up everything for you.
