Cargo net bar improv. suggestion...

I have a suggestion for GM. The bar in the bed that holds the cargo net could benefit from some clips that could be added to it to support grocery bags. The ones on the end are great and keep the contents in the net from sliding around out the ends, but a simple add on set of clips, say six of them, that could be clamped onto the bar to support grocery bags would be a nice add on. You aftermarket guys hearing me? It should be easy to do, in fact, I plan on shopping around and seeing what I can come up with. That bar has to have more uses than what it appears to have now, right? Also, the velcro closure on the net pops off so easy it is absurd. It needs to be longer or something so that it does not undo itself under stress. Now, back to "Velcro Fly", by ZZ Top, yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cheers Did I tell you how much I appreciate all that velcro in the bed? Man, that stuff does wonders...so versatile.
This thing is useless! It does not keep your small bags from falling out on the sides! Do not buy it (the cargo net). ! :flag

I don't follow you, "The ones on the end are great and keep the contents in the net from sliding around out the ends", how can that be, there are NO ends? The real solution is to lengthen the net on both sides and add another set of stretch cords to both sides to prevent groceries from sliding out either end! :flag
The bag hooks on the xbar seems like a no brainer.

As to the ends of the net, some elastic (bungies) could be woven across the ends.

Alternatly:
The local upholstry shop should be able to stitch up a bag that would hang from the cargo bar. I'm thinking some black cordura.
Redesigned Cargo Net

With my wifes help we redesigned the net and have it installed and working GREAT. I hope to attach three thumbnails with this post. My wife crocheted the additional side sections (about 12") on both sides. I then threaded 5/32" bulk shock cord through the last row. I then formed a loop around each end of the shock cord and slid them over the snaps. If the thumbnails come thru, they should show the finished product before installation and one with the tailgate closed and one with the tailgate open. :flag
Looks like you have a handy wife. Tell her she did a great job. She better be a fast knitter I have a feeling that lots of people will be wanting the same thing. :)
Just 8 hrs of her time and 3 rolls of 100% Nylon heavy cord. But it really does the job!
Now, I'm feeling down, I didn't stuff my cover into the bag so that the logo peeks out.
I wish I had not left it in there for the pictures, just getting old. That is the way I got it from the manufacturer. Have not even tryed to put in on! :flag
Nomadkenn - great idea! I've shown the pics to my wife and she's going to duplicate your wife's efforts to "fix" my net. I also use an old motorcycle net on the bed floor with six loops to good effect. I didn't get the carpeted bed, so no velcro here.
Good luck with the fix, but it will work. You don't need the carpet to use velcro, I have velcro through out the bed, attached the rub strips to the liner using velcro, attached "trunk liner" to the bed using velcro (to protect the rub strips), will get the monogram SSR placed on the front right near the top next week. Just painted the SSR on the rear center bed in silver and red to match the one on the outer tailgate. Everything looks GREAT!! :flag

Ok, Ok, perhaps late next week, after the monogram treadment, and perhaps the custom mods to the top cover(inside). :flag

Ok, Ok, so I am a little late. We just got back from a 5,000 mile trip, no not with the SSR. If everything works out I should show the bed with and without the "Trunk Liner" material, the bottom of the top covered with "Trunk Liner", the modifications we did to the tailgate and cargo net. Also the newly installed compass with outside temp and altimeter.
