That looks like the right way the cargo net should be fastened. I didn't like it so I removed my cross bar and the net. The saddle bags were the first to go so now my bed is completely free of any options except the carpet and wood strips. I'll save everything so I'll have them when I trade whenever that is.

The fix

I am I missing something or is this net in correctly?
Items can fall out the side of the net
It is correct, but a very poor design. Take a look at thread cargo net bar improv. suggestions Post 6. This is a redesign that works, and I think it to be borderline perfect! :flag

SSR Cobra,

I put my net in slightly differently (Of course I should have picture here, but I don't. Will try to get one later).

Where the 2 outside 'wood' strips are located there is a rail underneath them, which can be easily seen in your picture. I took 2 of the 'rings' (like the ones in the tailgate) and put them in at the end of the rails. I then clamped the bottom of the net to these. There are still holes on the side, but since the items are resting on the bed of the truck, they don't fall out of the net.

I still agree that the net needs a redesign, but I can live with it the way I have it now.
