I'm glad to see the satin and chrome sill plates, I'll be ordering those as soon as they make available for order.

Omg!

That is a fantastic new blue color! About the time the 06s hit the dealerships, I'll finally be makin' money that I can take home from my business (I'll have all the debt paid off).

I've been visiting and sitting in the Aqua Blur unit at my local dealership, just waiting for the day when I can snag one of these fine machines. Now, it looks like I'll be able to pick up one of the Pacific Blue units in the Spring of 06... bwah-hah-hah!

Thanks to GM and this club for keeping me informed about developments regarding the SSR.

I'm a really patient guy, but this waiting is just killing me. I'm envious of you all!

Gees I think they are making the truck worse.... Chrome sillplates? WOW lets make the SSR a ricer wannabe!. Chrome hood insert? WHAT? I do like the organizer and soft side storage though but the options the offer on the truck I think is going to kill it.

I agree. There are a lot of places in the country where too much chrome or fancy trim just doesn't go over well. I went to lot of trouble to get a basic SSR without the trim, but one lady has already described it as "gay-looking". Another person commented after I explained why I bought out of state, "Oh, so you didn't want to get it all pimped out". And I've had one pickup guy go to a lot of trouble to explain to me what real pickup tires look like.

That's why Chevy is having so much trouble selling the SSR's. People who go to Chevy dealerships drink beer and watch sports, not California wine and anime. :)

You are dead on Doug.... I had the owner of my Pool supply place look at my truck and told her husband that she wanted one of those and it was only a Chevrolet. Then they asked me the going price for one at the local dealer and I said $50k and she just about fainted and those famous words came out...

$50,000 for a Chevrolet that isn't a Corvette? Are you crazy.. I just laughed and climb in , dropped the top and rode away...

People do not see chevy with a high end vehicle like this.

But your local dealer could be selling them at 41,000. The list on the basic SSR I got is only 43,000. That's still a bit of a stretch for your average Chevy shopper, but I'm not understanding why almost all of the dealers put in so many unnessacry extras as to knock the price of the SSR right out of the ballpark for the average Chevy person.

But you stated the exact reason the SSR's advertising isn't taking. People see the ads, but they just can't place the truck in their Chevy Universe.

Well our Chevy Stealer here Adds everything they can to one and puts this market Adjustment crap ontop of it... I have seen corvettes here with a $4000 market adjustemnt..

what is a market adjustment you may ask? It is the desireability of the car and lack of them around here.... thank GOD for the Internet!

Frame Deleted

Rear license plate surround - deleted

This has me mystified. It's the frame that covers the edge of the license plate, yes?

Why delete that? :confused
The reason why they want to delete the license plate frame is because no-one knows how to get it off! :lol

The only way they learn how is by coming to this site! When I asked several dealers how to do it they were just as dumbfounded as I was. :glol

Thank goodness for this site! I wonder if there will be a drop in new members now that the license plate surround is being deleted? :lol

You know, instead of deleting the plate surround they could have just updated the owners manual with the information.

I went to a Chevy dealership and I don't drink beer or California wine. However, I do watch sports and anime.

I guess I'm just a cross-over! :lol

Now on a serious note ( :cool ) I think that Chevy is trying to draw attention to the brand and possibily move it up market. Remember, before Chevy had the Corvette I don't think the brand was known for fast sports cars. So maybe the thinking is why not have another signature product that also draws attention to the brand? Afterall they discontinued the Camero (which I never understood in the line-up. Why have a Vette if you have a Camero and vis-versa?). Beyond, moving the brand up market, it remains to be seen what impact the SSR has on Chevy as a whole. I remember in 1999 when I was looking at cars, I went to Chrysler because I figured that any company that could make the Prowler must have something going for it. At Chrysler even though I could not afford a Prowler at that time ($50K was the base price but "Street Value", as they liked to call it was $80K and they were not going to sell it for $50K. If you wanted it you had to pay their price. Only select dealers got a Prowler and even they could not choose the color). So I wound up buying a 1999 Chrysler LHS because it had the same engine as the Prowler. Nevertheless, if Chevy is trying to move up market then it will take time. Afterall the SSR brought me back to Chevy. I swore that I would never buy another Chevy again until I saw the SSR. Also I don't know anyone yet who went in for an SSR, couldn't afford it so they bought a Trail Blazer. I don't know what kind of draw the SSR is for sales of other Chevy's.
