Well, I just got in from Lubbock yesterday afternoon and have some bad news to report. Driving on I20 east of Abilene while on the way home the trim panel on the windshield post exterior came loose at the top and started flapping against the side of the ssr. I pulled over to check and it appears to be made of plastic or fiberglas of some sort. The flange at the top broke and ripped 2 of the 3 pieces of velcro off of the post glue and all. I had to tear it off at the bottom and drive home the last 150 miles or so with a highly noticeable part of the truck missing. I got lots of looks in my ssr yesterday, but not the kind of attention I wanted. It was very embarrassing to drive all that way with pieces falling off/ missing. I went to the dealership today to order a part and it is a special order. They say it may take several days to get the part in stock. Well at least I didn't have any flat tires. It would have been even more fun to flatbed it from Abilene to Fort Worth. :cuss :cuss :mad :boxing

She's coming apart at the seams Captain!

Comley,

Really sorry to hear about your troubles. Although, it's troubling to hear our SSRs are held together in parts by velcro.

Hope your dealer is speedy and you're SSR gets back on road to looking good quickly.

I KNOW IT IS KIND OF UPSETTING TO SEE SO MUCH PLASTIC AND VELCRO IN OUR TRUCKS, BUT... I REALLY LIKE THE SPEED :cool FACTOR SO I CAN PUT UP WITH LIGHT WEIGHT PARTS TO GO FASSSSST :ssr

Ouch! Good Luck. Hey I noticed in your pic you appear to be towing a boat. Any troubles? Did you have to modify the SSR to achieve this or is it under the 2500 lb limit?

The boat weighs approximately 2025 lbs plus the weight of fuel. The SSR pulls it pretty easily and loading and unloading at the boat ramp is even easier than with a standard pickup. No spinning tires when pulling it out of the water. The gas mileage suffers somewhat but that is also true with a standard pickup. Trailer hitch height is good also. :thumbs :flag

lightweight tank

I've seen so many complaints by fellow fanantics about how heavy our ssrs are and I guess I just like to think everything plastic makes it just a tad lighter. after driving silverados and surburbans most of my life, Besty seems like a light weight.
:lol Anyway, I hope you get your problem fixed to your satisfaction. :seeya
