One of our members here who worked on the SSR project stated that G.M. had planed to put a small tool kit in there. But they did not follow through with it. It seems that it’s a good place to store something light weight like the cargo net.

What is the little "glove box thing on the inside surface of the cover for?
it is designed for the cargo net and d-rings. If you did not order the optional net package, then your cover should not have a compartment, if it does, kudos to you.

I saw a SSR on display at the Detroit Int. Car show back in Jan. of 2004. They had the small tool box inserted into this space, pretty cool. I have this same "box" in my 05, not sure what it's for unless a picture of your favorite girl friend. Don't let wife see it.

Thanks! Was wondering where I could put that cargo net when not using it...but what about the bar?

The bar is designed to stay in place with obvious front to back sliding adjustment. I did not get the netting package (don't ask why) but I wanted it especially for the little compartment in the cargo cover. Oh well, maybe later, maybe not.........

I received a 'bar' with my cargo net.
I replaced the 'bar' with an eyelet, in the slide rail, on each side.
I ran a Heavy Duty bungee cord across from eyelet to eyelet.
I hooked the cargo net to the cord and the tailgate.
If it is in the way of a large item (Xmas shopping) unhook one side of cord and cargo net in 2.7 seconds... and there you have it.
The HD cord will hold about 100 lbs.
Anything heavier than that I usually let them ride in passenger seat. :thumbs
