We seem to have a lot of water and black soot in our stock tailpipes all the time. We took it in for warranty replacement of the driveshaft (it was "pinging"), and had them check this, but they said the condensation and soot were normal.

I have stainless steel exhaust on the vette, and I don't have these issues at all. Is it normal for the SSR? :confused

Condensation and Soot

I have this same problem as well. It probably has to do with the frequency the vehicle is driven. I only take mine out on good weather weekends. On a couple occassions I drove it several days in a row and the problem cleared up. No doubt this truck was definitely meant to be driven.

How many miles Vettegirl? Mine have had the soot on it from the beginning and I notice it less now almost 10,000 miles. I never had moisture though. Cruzened is right clean it often. He had an earlier post for a wax that worked great.

Soot

Welll I don't clean mine and I drive a lot and the insides of my pipes are blacker than my paint :)

(Sorry Ed....the only time it has been cleaned is when I dropped by your house.)

Thanks everybody! It only has 1000 miles on it, and it has mainly been driven on short trips around town so far. I'm glad to hear it's normal, and we have been keeping up with cleaning the black stuff out - but what a pain!

I ordered the Flowmaster dual exhaust yesterday, maybe that will help a little. Or maybe we just need to drive it a lot more ;) !!

Have a nice weekend!! :seeya
