Hey all, just had a few questions for someone like me looking into buying an SSR. Is it safe for a baby seat in the passenger side? Can you disable the airbag?
Is there anything to look for when looking at a new SSR? I have been reading this board for a while now and think you guys have a great board. Hopefully I'll be a fulltime member here soon! Thanks. :)

Good Luck

I think I would keep the baby out of the car and get a hop around car until your baby gets old enough to enjoy it. I hope you get one and start a "NEW LIFE" with us ;)

yes/no

Yes you can turn off the passenger side air bag. From what I''ve seen so far on SSR accidents, I would feel comfortable puting a child seat in the passenger seat with out worrying for it's saftey.
My two kiids are old enough not to need one any longer, and I'm comfortable with them in the passenger seat.

Yes...definitely. Are there any changes coming for the '06? Should I go ahead and look at an '05 or wait on an '06? Thanks again :cool

Safety

My husband had our grandson in the car seat and it is very easy to shut off the air bag. If you wait for the '06 think of the days in the sun with the top down you are going to miss out on. There aren't that many changes.

buy it now....

looked at the :ssr when it first hit the market but was unwilling to pay the price...kept looking at them, then, saw my first ultra violet and just had to have it but since it was an 04 was able to be :) about the $$$...wish I hadn't waited sooooooooooooo long...love my SSR and its my daily ride

don't have any babies to haul around anymore but do take my 10 pound Maltese Mighty everywhere I go...the passenger seat belongs to him...just turn off the air bag, stap him in and away we go :lol

Anyone else have insight on the use of baby seats in the SSR? This is a big hangup with my wife...I looked on Chevy's website and it says that car seats are allowed...but not recommended. I would think by turning off the airbag that this would be a big plus in this vehicle. Any help is appreciated :)

The only thing that might hold me back from the car seat is a side impact crash, but those happen in other vehicles and babies are generally next to the door.
Show her the pics of the wrecked SSR's it is amazing how well they hold up from side, front and rear hits. and make sure you have a car seat with 5 point harness. Even rear facing seats should be safe in the SSR.

Hey ace22!

Do a search on "crash boom bang " and you will see an SSR that went though a terrible clrash and the cockpit was totally intact. There have been a few more threads on crashes and in every incident, the cockpit was protected by airbags (front or side depending on the wreck)!

I will tell you, I wouldn't have a bit of doubt to strap a "young'n" in my SSR and drive it anywhere! Just turn off the passenger airbag.

It's a very safe vehicle!
