Hi all,

Does anyone know if there are any secret codes in a VIN, like when the car was built or what engine is in it?

For example, the VIN on my 2005 Chevy SSR is 1GCES14HX5B115528.

Thanks!

Here is what I think yours means, 1= "First one built since the last one", GCES = "Great car except for squeaks", 14Hx5B= "Fourteen Hours for break -in except for 5 hours on brakes" 1= " It's the # 1 coolest vehicle on the road", and 15528= " The order in which yours was built "
I am not sure about this so you may want to wait for other responses!! :lol

I didn't think there were 15 thousand built? Thought it was more like 10-11K?

Production Numbers

Hi Bill,

All SSR VIN#'s are in a continuous sequence and they don't reset every year, per special GM marketing request.

First year 03's there were 3,361 VIN#s and in 04 there were 10,676 built. Thus 05 VIN#s will be in the teens and up. Hope that helps you out there a little bit. You can check out other threads regarding build numbers.

Leaky Cargo Area

I have no idea if my cargo area leaks. No part of the vehicle has ever been wet! :lol

I just spent three nights with the Zaino products, and the finish is unbelievable! With just the first coat (and a lot of elbow grease), my Resale Red shines like no other car I've ever had. (I'm not trying to sell Zaino - it's just the best I've found to clean up and polish the red finish.) :)

Oops - there goes another "secret"....

Just did mine with the entire Zaino sequence - starting with the claybar process. Very surprised at how much contamination was in the paint. Did 4 coats of Z5, and 2 coats of Z2 so far - incredible shine.

I had practiced on our red 99 Sonoma. Ultimate compliment was being asked if we had just repainted it.

Definitely sold on Zaino. The info in Guru Reports on waxes rated it in a category by itself.

Hey, Peaches - what kind of weather can I expect coming through Flagstaff around Nov 7? - Going to SEMA, then taking in the Grand Canyon train trip. Caught snow coming through a couple of years ago in late November. Them durned flat maps just don't show you how high it is out there!!!!
