I have had my SSR for a year. Happy Birthday and I have finally named her.
Sexy Susie. But we call her Susie.

I have never named my other vehicles but I do talk to them you know when I want them to make it to the next gas station and things like that.

Yes I think My SSR has a female personality. And I think that Susie and Slingshot yellow go together.

yes i do

Besides telling them a part by color (blue, purple, orange, black, green, etc) I give them a name so that I can talk to them while I'm working on them (tune up, polishing, etc). Kind of like in "Days of Thunder" when the crew chief was talking to the race car the night before raceday.

Names would include:
Cobra------------1972 Gran Torino Cobra jet
Fusion-----------1990 custom GMC 4x4
Tangerine-------2002 custom GMC 4X4 EXT CAB (A.K.A. Mom's truck)
Fire truck--------1978 Black and flamed GMC 4x4
Black Cherry----1977 custom GMC 4x4 (SPECIAL MIXED COLOR)
Spare parts-----1980 Blazer (built out of spare parts I had laying around, and custom painted)
My baby---------2003 SSR (may get different nick name later after the cutom paint job).

There you have it. :thumbs

While trying to figure our what I wanted to name mine, I kept overhearing my wife referring to it as my "red rocket' to our friends. Since I hadn't come up with anthing else it kinda stuck, now I like it :thumbs

I refer to mine as: "LITTLE WING"- she's got a song named after her (or the other way around)...

Jimi Hendrix out of the Bose fits so well!!!

AKA: My: Natural Born Hot Rod...

Lyrics for: Little Wing

Well she's walkin' through the clouds with a circus mind that's running around.
Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and fairytales.
That's all she ever thinks about, ridin' with the wind.

When I'm sad she comes to me with a thousand smiles...she gives to me free.
It's alright, she said, it's alright.
Take anything you want from me.
Anything.
Anything.

Fly on Little Wing.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Little Wing.

Little Wing Info: This was inspired by the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, a concert held during 3 days of the "Summer of Love" (1967) featuring The Who, The Byrds, Janis Joplin, and many others. Attended by about 200,000 music fans, it happened 2 years before Woodstock. Jimi wrote about the atmosphere at the festival as if it was a girl. He described the feeling as "Everybody really flying and in a nice mood." He named it "Little Wing" because he thought it could just fly away.
Jimi ran his guitar through a Leslie speaker to create an unusual sound. The Leslie speaker was designed for organs and contains a rotating paddle that distorts the sound.
Hendrix has described this as being one of the few he likes from this album. He said "Little Wing" is "like one of those beautiful girls that come around sometimes."
The same day they recorded "Layla," Eric Clapton and Duane Allman recorded this as a tribute to Jimi, who was one of their guitar heroes. Hendrix died 9 days later. He never heard their version of his song, which was released in 1970 on the Derek And The Dominoes album, Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs.

car names

i named mine Trukvett. this is a combination of pickup truck and corvette. i also tell people it's not a car vette (corvette) it's a tru(c)k vett(e). i got the idea when i heard that the ssr was assembled from various existing platforms. i.e. trailblazer frame, camaro suspension, corvette transmission. and besides, frankenstein's monster has too many letters. :flag :jester

No Name

I do not name my vehicles. Each is referred to by the manufacturers' designation. Example, SSR is just SSR.

However, I do think of it in masculine terms. I probably do this just because I am male. Come to think of it most machines/devices I use are thought of as masculine. My only exception to this would be the stove. Interesting because I did most of the cooking for the family when I was growing up. My mother worked and did 30 percent and I did 70 percent.

Devastator

- skip the E, and get DVAST8R, or the A for DEVST8R, if your limit is 7 letters.
