We have an SSR owner in the Oklahoma City area that his driver side seat heater has quit working. Is there a part or component that might be causing this failure, or could it be something as simple as a fuse? This gentleman has some physical challenges, and I have told him that I would check the forum to see if we can get some feedback on this matter. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is no fuse that would shut down the heater without effecting the power seat operation. The seat bottom and back heater are separate elements. However, because the temp sensor is in the bottom only, if either heater element burns out, the entire seat will not heat up.

Do you have a scan tool that can communicate with driver seat module. You will be able to determine is the module is receiving a signal from the switch.

There is a good troubleshooting chart for seat heater inoperable in service manual. It is based on having a scan tool.


I think i provided copies of this chart in another thread. I can repost IF I KNOW YOU HAVE SCAN TOOL. it's not worth posting without an enhanced scan tool.

Note: if passenger side heater is working, its the same module, and this means the module is working. Passenger side requires seat belt is buckled to function.

As Nick stated it is seldom a good idea to start more than one thread on a given question and never should they be in different forums. I have done the best I can to get them merged and in the right place but cannot seem to get rid of the "Want to Buy" part.

It has happened to many of us for the same thought process, but for others reading this, it also means having to remember where you posted and who answered where. It is simpler when it is all in one place.
