Hello all, I have had the dreaded SSR electrical failure. 2006 SSR, 82K miles.

Problem: Driving 20 mins experience a complete eng. shut off.

Try the re-start and the starter stays engaged.

Sits for 4 hrs starts up.

OBDII codes:
P0443
P0689
P1516
P1682
P2101
P0443

I researched the codes, multiple faults identified. Just want to start in the most logical, cheapest place.

Help. Please.

You need to have the fuse box repaired. There is a broken wire that separates enough when engine is warm to shut down engine usually takes about 20 minutes for it to cool down enough to restart. There are several guys that will do the repair for you I am sure they will respond.

Awesome, thank you Sir,
Always a lot of help here, soren703 and a few others in FL do a ton of work on the Rs.

Not sure where you are but I am in GA and repair them, there are people in FL as mentioned above that do it as well as in AZ and I think CA. Send me a PM with your email address for more info if you have questions.

ksamson24,----Consider going to "Tools" in the red banner, click on "User CP" go to "Your Profile" then click "Edit Your Details". Then, whenever you "post" something, it will show in the left column under your name, like the rest of us, and we will know where you are and what you drive. Then if you have a problem, someone close by might be able to help out.

I will agree with others that suggest the fuse box is at fault

the statement below is complied from a previous post that had same type of symptoms and similar DTCs

I believe fuse box is the issue because relay 42 shuts down with a bad wire in the fuse box. This is the PCM/ECM power relay. That ground circuit is turned on and off by the ECM. P0689 is detecting a problem with the PCM/ECM relay. The ECM monitors the switched side of the relay. It sets based on 0 volts from the "switched" side of the relay.

See the attached document compiled from Service manual regarding the codes that were reset.

This is the second case where the owner has listed these codes and had a "shut down when hot" issue.

Hopefully we hear back from this member, or the member of this previous post that the fuse box fix did indeed solve the problem. While I am 90% sure it is based on these codes - a confirmed fix would increase that to 100%
