Engine cutting out

I lost the thread which was helping me with Ilsa's problem of the engine cutting out with a P2135 code. Please get back to me on this.

Just to clarify for those who haven't seen the posts, for a couple years and on a complete random schedule, Ilsa will suddenly choke and cough for a few seconds, then the engine stops. She usually gives me enough time to get off the road before she quits. If I shut off the key and wait for one minute, she starts again and is fine, not doing it again for the rest of the day. The P2135 code is for "Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "A"/"B" Voltage Correlation". This used to happen once or twice a month, but now, it's happening every day that I drive her, and I think it happens after I drive somewhere in town, shut her off while I'm in a store or something, and get back on the road again for a couple minutes.

If you have any ideas, please let me know, and would the fine gentleman who seemed to know what was going on, please get back to me.

Which throttle body are you running? If you don’t know, please post a pic in the thread.

It's an LS2 throttle body

Stock SSR LS2 throttle body or Corvette/GTO LS2 throttle body?

I'm pretty sure it's stock.

I spoke to a couple Chevy guys at a car show today, and they both agree that the problem is either the sensors on the throttle body, or the sensors on the pedal (or both). What do you think, and what can I do to get Ilsa back to normal?

That looks to be the correct throttle body. For the record, that isn’t the stock throttle body on either a 5.3L or 6.0L SSR. Trying another throttle body is an expensive guess/proposition. I would hook up a Tech2 and see what the desired vs. actual throttle position is and see if they agree or are out of spec. I believe it is in the Data 2 display. The throttle body position sensor can go bad, but I haven’t seen one yet on the LS2/LS7 throttle body.

Robert is right. That’s the Corvette/GTO throttle body. If that is a genuine GM part (there are inferior aftermarket clones), it is very, very rare that they give an issue. Current pricing for the GM unit is over $500. You should do some serious scrutinizing of the data to make your decision on what part to change. The throttle pedal on the floor may be a contributor, but use the data to make that decision…… it’s a pain to change.

Let us know what you find….

My 06 did it once going up mountain roads here in nearby Jerome Az. Started right back up. After code was checked, found out sensor in gas pedal assembly failed. My mechanic replaced the pedal assembly. He states the throttle body sensor in his time has never failed. Pedal assembly change was fast and plug in. So far no reoccurrance. Fwiw.

Did your check engine light come on?
Did you try:

How do I reset TCM 4l60e?
The procedure to reset the 4l60e TCM is identical to the standard Chevy TCM: Set the ignition to “On”, step on the gas pedal, and wait 10 seconds. Release the gas pedal, turn the ignition to “Off”, then wait another minute before starting the vehicle.
What does resetting a transmission control module do?
When you reset the transmission control module, you clear the driving habits it picked up along the way. Say you bought a Chevy V8 from an owner that drove it very slowly – in that case, the car will feel limp even though it should have plenty of power.
By resetting the TCM, you make it start fresh and relearn your driving habits. It’s a very useful step and should be done every couple of years.

Did try to reset, but it didn't work. When I first start it, it sounds like it should, but then when you push the pedal down doesn't accelerate.
Again, since no one knows even what STATE your in, those of us that have readers can not even offer to help you read the live data.
Good luck with your diagnostics and repairs.

GULLLLLDANGIT!!! $248 (part) plus diagnosis and other labor ($539.65 total) to replace the Accelerator pedal position sensor, and nothing has changed! The engine still goes into limp mode then cuts out almost every time I drive her. As usual, after waiting on the side of the road with the key off for one minute, she starts and runs fine again, although sometimes she does it again later.

What's next to check?

Robert is spot on, my friend……. You can change all sorts of parts and toss a crapload of good money in the toilet……. Without knowing the codes that are being recorded, you are wasting time and money.

Gotta know what codes are being set.

At the very least save the parts that come off when the new ones don't help, you can never have too many spares and instead of throwing money away you invested it in spares. Stick to that story, she may buy it.
