I have been trying to find a source for touch up paint for my 2004 Silver SSR. The Service Parts ID ( located on the instrument panel storage compartment door) list a U944L exterior color, is this the same as Color Code 12, Galaxy Silver (m)? :flag

I`ve always gone to my Chevy dealer parts counter
to get touch up paint.

I`m sure that they have or can get
Ricochet silver for you.

The Chevy Paint/collision repair center got my slingshot paint for me. I don't think it is the kit that some of you have talked about. mine is a small 3oz bottle. and even though they have told me on several different occasions that they dont' have a paint code for the Yellow SSR it is the same color as the Corvette Yellow.

The paint kit

I think the paint kit I am looking for comes complete with the base coat and the clear coat. Someone must sell this. I just don't have much luck with any of the local dealers. :flag

My dealer

Well, I broke down and went to my dealer yesterday. Just like I said before, no touch up paint in stock but he could order it and it may take 30 to 60 days! Then I gave him the color code from the glove door only to be told that code could NOT be right because he listed a 2 digit code AND no mention of my Ricochet Silver Metallic. Who knows what I will get and when I will get it. :flag

My wife was able to get a kit from
Advance Auto for her TrailBlazer
that included factory touch up paint,
clear coat, 2000 grit sandpaper and
polishing compound.

Came in handy the other day when
she happen to hit our trash can. :mad

Good-Luck,

John

Can you give me the name of the person at your dealer's paint shop that gave you the paint. I need some for my yellow SSR. The dealer I bought mine from will not give me any. I have a small nick of the rear that needs to be touvhed up.

Hi, Brownhornet

I picked up a small tube of touch-up paint with a built-in brush for my yellow SSR.

Following numbers are on the tube:

Part number 12378081, Code 79, WA 423G Nicks look much better, but not perfect - almost impossible for touch-up paint to give you the depth of the original paint.

Hope that works for you.
