Factoid …. It is much harder to please your customer, when your customer is yourself. I have changed my mind so many times now. I just hope to have this hood finished for Woodward.
Some of you know I bought a second hood to customize so I can hang the factory stock hood high and dry out of the sun in case I ever want to go back stockish. I then made cardboard patterns for sheet metal to be cut. The hump is a 65 GTO and front end cut off. Mounting it backwards and adding two fans under it to exhaust heat for times like Woodward. The side nostrils are to take air in at speed. At this time I can’t make up my mind, about how far to flair the nostrils. It is 3/8” in the pictures; I had started at ¾” and know think it should be ½”. I want to keep it subtle, but not to subtle to not have attitude. It will be brazed in place and then lead. (no plastic) TIC TIC TIC Aug.20th bang!

Its O.K. Buffy no rush … Even bone stock is good. Guy’s like Marc know from experience down the road STOCK is where it’s at for resale. And I know 90% of the people here will not like what I’m doing to mine, but it’s mine to play with and enjoy. Everyone should do just that with theirs; enjoy it in any form they like. I love Ken T. SSR. But I have to do something different from his, a little. It would be terrible if all our wife’s look the same. (Might take the wrong one home some night :mad ) … I have said, I do not like stickers on cars but that’s me, others do for different reasons. We can all agree to have different tastes and still agree the SSR is great. (I hope!) And Buffy, as long as the Stripeing is not done, you will always have something to look forward to.

Just a little info: My son has a 1948 chevy truck. We dropped a 350 into it. The extra cubic inches was too much for the old "big radiator". We added a bigger fan, then fan shroud, then which over to a 302 Mustang 3 core aluminum racing radiator "turned 90 degrees", and for added measure a temperature actived electric push fan.

Yes in most cases that holds true... however SSRs might have the advantage of being so unquie that you probably can find a lot of buyers for customised SSRs.

I do like changing rims (keeping stock sizes) and having an extra hood or two where you can go back to stock if you need or want to and it is so KOOL to do too! Individualizing your SSRs is so much fun and there are a lot of helpful threads dealing with all kinds of great mods.

I like what you are doing on your 2nd hood Rebel... I can't wait to see the finished product. :thumbs

Pictures of finished product

Please post pictures when you're finished. My husband is wanting to do something to ours and I'm not sure about it. I'm scared to change it. I like it the way it is but I'm sure yours will look cool when you're finished also. I'm not against modification just a chicke----.

**** a dodle do

Me to that's why I found a second hood to work with. Keep that original hood as a safety net. I have to thank Merlin and others on here for helping me find it on E-bay $150. :thumbs
