So long guys and gals!

I saw the Ford GT in a local area dealership showroom. Dark Blue with White Strip. I couldn't resist. My wife and I traded the SSR for the GT. I still love the SSR, and would have liked to keep it, but it couldn't justify it after spending $165,000. This GT is unbelievable. It was great fun being here...you're all wonderful people. :ssr :thumbs :flag

That was a real good find. I have been looking at the same color at a local dealer for about 3 weeks now however he will not take a penny less then $200,000. I do not think the vehicle is worth 35 over sticker. If I decide to pay that much, I think I would go for the yellow.

Good luck with your new ride. Hope to join you shortly.

Prediction: watch for a whole $%#@load of '06 Ford GT buyers bitching and moaning in about 2-3 years time, when Ford can't give new '08/'09 GTs away, and all these early adopters start complaining on the Ford GT Fanatic forum about what lousy trade-ins their dealers are offering ...

What you are saying now is very true. The only cars I have ever owend where I did not loose money after 2-3 years is the Ferrari 360 Spider, F-50 and the new 430. Just traded my 03 with 6800 miles and received what I paid for it in trade. Never happen with american cars.

I am sorry to see you go, especially after all the new posts you have put on here. I was thinking you would have been the last to split from the SSR family.

Enjoy your new ride !

Who services the GT? The local Ford Dealer??? :willy: :willy: :willy: Honestly, even if I had $165K to spend on a car how could you just leave it at the local dealer for serivce. My Ford dealer could not get my Explorer fixed in one try, not to mention I always found some kind of scratch or ding in it after bringing it back from that nasty place.

Well, they would have to be a Ford SVT dealer at least. SVT dealers have techs certified to work on SVT vehicles, meaning they've been to school to diagnose and repair supercharged engines and the specialised parts on these cars.

This is no BS, I have friends who are Ford techs and work on not only SVT's but Saleens and Steedas. Saleen actually builds the GT for Ford in their Michigan plant.

The powertrain in the GT, a 5.4L supercharged V8 and 6 speed manual transmission, is not especially exotic. It's a much higher built enging than, say, the 5.4 supercharged V8 that's going into the new Mustang Shelby GT, but then Ford has built a lot of 5.4 L V8's

The Ford GT, while a great looking car, is in such high demand because it's produced in very limited numbers, at a specialty plant, and been marketed well. It shares a lot with the SSR -- consider that if price were no object and Chevrolet took its time to bring to the market an "ultimate" SSR with supercharging, you'd see SSR's sold 35K over sticker (which would be 100K+). Most of us could never afford one.

The Ford GT is their Halo car, and frankly, there are much better, faster cars out there for less money. Some people who bought them for $200,000 may never recover their investment, but my guess since Ford will never build this car for any real volume numbers and will cease production after 3-4 years, that those in the marketplace will hold a lot of their value.

Not my cup of tea, but then if I had the money....

Oh Yes, Picture Please I don't think I have ever seen a blue one before.

By the way, What ever happened to the yellow C6 Z06 you were ordering? I thought you were going to use the SSr as the Zo6s tow vehicle???
