50 SSR's "Lap of Honor", Irwindale speedway, CA was the biggest turnout event since the first www.SSR-Club.com was established in late 2003. I had the Honor of (announcing through the race track sound system) representing Troy Roberts' great www.SSRfanatic.com informational forum, my www.SSR-Club.com with my several Hosted SSR-Club.com's starting up all over the USA and Canada and not to leave out our thanks to all of the SSR's and their owners that took time off to join in on this big SSR happening!! Our thanks to Doug Stocks and his team at the Irwindale Speedway for their great program and sponsorship. Jesse, Tony, Lloyd, Keith, Jim Camdon(So.Calif. SSR-Club.com Host) and all of the others that helped make this an SSR day in history. Keith Cox(Kwhopper) is having a professional video made of this event in case you couldn't make it and/or want a video record of your SSR on the "Lap of Honor".... so how about the other hundreds of race-track speedways, parades, shows, activities going on all over the USA?? What is next? If everyone located and posted events, we could all find something to attend within our gas range and time...
I'm really proud of our SSR vehicles and their owners for their support and participation...

respectfully, Steve Hull

Thank you to Jesse, Tony, Lloyd, Keith, Jim, Keith and THE WIVES and every one else that made today's event so smooth! It was my first SSR event and my wife and I just had a blast!
During the making of the video as we were all driving to the track the camera ended up in a van right next to my yellow 05. My instinct was to smoke the tires and give everyone that ordered a video a cheap thrill(about 10,00 miles off my tires)... I held back but did a pretty nice launch to about 30mph with no wheel spin. Then I looked in the rear-view mirror and the police escort on a motorcycle shook his finger at me(like NO NO NO), so I'm glad I didn't do a burn-out.
It was fun meetin you all and I'll see you again soon!

50 Beautiful SSRs

Everything went perfect and I met so many wonderful people and fine kept SSR's. Anyone that missed this event missed a once in a lifetime thrill, but then I'm all
ready thinking we just might be able to do it all again next year? Irwindale Raceway said it was their largest gathering of cars for an event. The past number was 30 and we had 50 SSR's and they said the public loved them. A big thanks to Sierra Chevrolet for allowing us to gather at their dealership and treating us to lunch and a gift for each of us. I'll share a few of the many pictures, but as they say, "a picture doesn't do it justice". You had to be there to believe it.... You might want to purchase the CD, professional photographers filmed us all day and night and I'm certain you will enjoy what they put together.

Dvd

My thanks to everybody involved in getting this event done! Redwing - thanks for that original post. I didn't realize until yesterday that these Sat, night car club events are kinda hard to get at Irwindale - apparently another club backed out - and we were able to step up to the plate. Lloyd andf Gerry, are the ultimate hosts - their excitement is contageous! Steve Hull - buddy, you sounded GREAT on the tracks PA - glad you could "be there" with your encouragement too! I had plans for the rest of the weekend - but my 20 hour excursion down to SoCal was well worth the effort! (I'll have to get the BBQ going here real soon. :)

Again - thanks to all involved. - and all that showed up.

For those that pre-paid for the DVD - thank you too. For those that need to PayPal me - use [email protected] to send the $40.00. The video folks told me that they will take 2 or 3 days to post-edit. Then I'll distribute the day I get them... I'll add some of my images soon...

Sierra Chevrolet

Returned the banner that Sierra Chevrolet gave us to display at Irwindale Raceway. Was pleased to find out that Sierra sold the Aqua Blurr that was part of our run to the track. Looks like Sierra knows how to sell cars, they just got their return on treating 50 SSR owners to a great day. Met the new owner of the Aqua Blurr and gave him my card to the SSRFanatic site. He asked how I liked my SSR and I just told him that fifty of us were together yesterday and all love their SSR's, nuff said...... :thumbs :thumbs :thumbs

Thanks to everyone for a great time. I just wish we could have gone a lot faster on the lap around the track, at least as fast as the Mustang lady. Maybe next year we can get another Aqua Blurr so I won't be the only one.

Great Day

Melissa and I had a wonderful day. Thanks again to all who organized it, and to Sierra Chevrolet and Irwindale Speedway for being such great hosts. I am very glad that they sold an SSR, and hopefully we will gain another fanatic.
I will attach some of our pictures, but like Fred said they just don't do it justice. It was a great day with wonderful company and the coolest cars around. By the way, check out the LARacers.com slideshow for pics of our individual SSRs on the track. I found ours, and have contacted them to order prints. The prices seem very reasonable.
Thanks again for a great event.

Looks like all you had such a wonderful, great day :) Tim and I are so sorry we missed out of meeting so many new :ssr owners but we had an emergency come up at the last minute, just as we were leaving home. Sure hope arrangements can be made so this will be an annual event :thumbs (how 'bout it guys!) and we will be able to make it next year. At least we'll have a copy of the video provided through kwhopper that we can view with envy.

Hope to :seeya next time.

artsmart,

Sorry you were unable to attend, I asked why you were not there and was told an emergency occured. I've already e-mailed Doug Stokes at Irwindale Speedway and thanked him for everything on behalf of the 50 SSR owners and asked if we could be invited next year? I'm sure we can even get Sierra Chevy to invite us back as they sold a 2005 Aqua Blur during the event..

Keith,

Need to send these pictures to GM and let them know what a great opportunity they missed out on. A couple clips of the DVD we are having made would sell a lot more SSR's than the quick peeks we get with their recent employee discount adds.

Couldn't have been better

This was my first event....and certainly won't be my last!

I bought my SSR as a marketing tool......I never dreamed that I was joining a family.

Many thanks to everyone who put this event together and a special Thank You to Irwindale Speedway for understanding that we are SSR Fanitics and no one should be left out!

I was last one onto the track.....We still had room for more!!

Mirror photo reverses everything, yes.

Did you all get a chance to do the kwhopper salute on the track ... I hope you did and got it on film.
No go on the salute - VERY strict time issues - just getting us all onto the entire 1/2 mile portion of the track for a lap and a half was all we got... Would have been nice.

The Dark Side

And then there is the downside of mixing with the general public. Just before we took our lap I had turned away from my SSR for a minute and the next thing I knew, some idiot opened the door, got in, and sat down in it. Had his kid's shoes in his 'free' hand. My wife (bless her heart) asked him what he was doing at which point he started to get out. That's when I showed up. He offered some lame excuse about thinking they were all from the dealer - I was speechless. :cuss
