Help me out which exhaust is the best to go with. Flowmaster has the American Thunder system which is supposed to be an aggressive sound. It is around 325. Magnaflow is around 700 dollars. Is there that much differance. Is the price differance because of the stainless steel that magnaflow is made of. Help me out I am dying to put a dual system on.

anyone have soundclips of any of the aftermarket exhaust system.

Russ- most probably flowmaster prices are for catback exhaust system and the other could be a full exhaust system. or it could be that the exhaust is just overpriced :)

Magnaflow vs. Flowmaster

I can't speak much about the Flowmaster, but the Magnaflow's high price is due to the ridiculous cost increases in stainless steel. When I bought my Magnaflow cat back system, I got it for $357. Now it's about double that.

For what it's worth, the Magnaflow system sounds exactly like I hoped it would. It is loud only when you want it to be. The sound bites on their website are worthless as being representative of the system. The larger tips look great, too! :cool

I liked the flowmaster I had on 03SSR you can hear it crusing down the road but not overpowering where you had to yell to talk. it really talks to you under acceleration. kinda like the old muscle cars. had corsa on 03 vette. I like the sound of the flowmaster better. it is aluminized steel. but nothing last forever. My brother has flowmaster on his 02 avalanche 3yr and no rust. :thumbs

Exhaust System

Trying to decide which exhaust to purchase. I read the responses and they are helpful. Looking for some more feedback. Pros and Cons. :boxing

1. Corsa System (Chev. dealer said endorsed by GM)

2. Magna Flow (Dealer endorsed)

3. Flowmaster (?)

4. Others?

Thanks in advance. :seeya

Magnaflow

I never did care for the sound of a flowmaster, especially a 5.0 mustang. They all sound the same. I traded in a 02 Dodge Ram with a Magnaflow system on it and it sounded great !

Exhaust

I have the Magnaflow and love the sound. I bought mine back when it was under $400. I don't know if I'd buy it at $800. I definitely think it looks better than the stock pipes.

You could ask bcbear10, he has a Magnaflow. Might have a sound clip. Mentioned to me that he is very enthused with his results.

In his avatar area it mentions some exhaust mods. :flag

Corsa makes exhaust systems actually approved by GM.

Hey, Mofo

Any chance Magnaflow will do a system with their aftermarket rolled tip system? - it's similar to the rolled tip on the stock system, but even cleaner looking.

I don't like the exhaust tips on the current Magnaflow system for the SSR - No rolled tip, no double tip. It looks like it would be difficult to keep the inside of the tips clean, something that is very easy on the factory system.

I heard Dr Bobs truck the other day with the Flowmaster system onit and I have to say..WOW!

Nothing sounds like a FlowMaster. I told myself that I was not going to change the exhaust on this truck as it sounded good from the factory....Now after hearing Dr. Bob's I have to have one.

5" tip's on anything but a Diesel looks ricer to me. Pro Street Class in PRO uses 4-5" exhaust so why in the world would you do it to a truck that has a hard time getting out of it's own way?

I know some of yall will get on me about this but I guess I am more for function...

Flame Away!

I Like Mine

I picked up the Flowmaster that was listed on one of these threads and I'm glad to say I did. It took 2 cuts with a sawzall and about 1/12 hours to put it on by myself. Lined up without a problem. It has a deeper sound at idle and a bark when you step on it but to me isn't any louder at cruising speed than stock.

Looking at the pictures of the Corsa, if that is a true picture you have a Y after the muffler like the stock. The Flowmaster is a dual out of the muffler. Don' know about the Magnaflow.

Overall I' happy with the Flowmaster, would do it again.

Hey, DrBob

Is it possible to get a close-up photo of the stainless tips? Wondering if they are a rolled edge like the stock piece, or a pipe within a larger pipe like the Magnaflow.
