I'm soon to be an SSR-ist. Althought it really isn't much of a consideration, I'm just wondering, what kind of mpg to people get with the 04's?

My 04 Durango 4.7L gets about 16mpg avg
The Mrs.' 04 Jeep V8 gets about 15mpg avg

Does anyone actually get the 19mpg on trips?

Thanks in advance

The 19 MPG figure is quite realistic. I picked mine up in North Carolina, and drove it home, primarily on freeways, using cruise, at 80+ mph most of the time. I set the computer when I left, and arrived at the west coast with an average of 19.4 mpg on the readout, on 2500+ miles.

Not bad!

I have about 20,000 miles on my 03 and 19mpg is about where I am.
Interestingly enough the number is about the same from 55mph and 80mph.
Once I got 22mpg and I have had a tank at 13mpg.
Now that I know I don't check; I'm going to use it no matter what. :thumbs

I average 14.7 around town, and it's only got 1,500 miles on it. A friend here at work bought a "Tornado" at Pep Boys, for around $69.00, and put it on his new 5.3L Silverado. He says he's now getting 17.2 and he bought his around the same time I bought mine. :thumbs

I get 20.2 on highway and 17.9 in traffic have 9200 miles on it.

have KN filter and VR in throttle body.

Just rev the superchip programer yesterday and will program the engine sat. will see what that does to mileage

Road Trip

Took my new '04 on a 500 mile round trip to Las Vegas. Including the infamous Baker grade, test drives by my heavy footed son-in-law and hot roddin granddaughter, I averaged 18.2 for the trip. Just went over 1200 total miles this week. Should get better.......

Who cares what the gas mileage is?? I would drive mine evryday like a bat out of hell if gas was 4 bucks a gallon and I got 8 miles per gallon. I just love my SSR that much. It is to be driven fast and often....not as a commuter vehicle that gets great gas mileage!
*disclaimer* My opinion!!

I thought since I was going to a VA appointment and would be on the road for about 100 miles most interstate it would be a good time to check my 04, I changed the oil yesterday with moble1, Has 3000 miles on it so off we go, At 60 it stays at 26 mpg, Was behind a truck a lot of the time, Up to 65 23 mpg in the clear, 70+ 21.6 mpg, 80+ 20.9 mpg

I am currently on a trip from Illinois to Southern Ca. Am currently in San Diego and will be heading up the coast and back home. We have about 4500 miles on our '03' which is completely stock. After 2200 miles of this trip so far we are averaging 19.3 mph running 75-80 on interstate and in town. Very happy so far. Had the top down every day. Great time. If you are in Southern Ca email me at [email protected] and maybe we can meet.

We couldn't change many powertrain components because of the fast track development and the truck powertrain families. With a little more time, the '05 was developed with a new engine. The rear axle ratio for '05 relates to strength and emission package timing.
The fuel economy benefits from the low coefficient of drag. When we introduced the SSR, it had the lowest Cd of any truck in production.

Hey, 45F was a heat wave!! We don't get that warm in March very often at all!!

You gotta be tough to live up here in the frozen wasteland.

In 2003 I bought a new Miata the first week in April and it sayed cold and wet until the middle of June!! We even got snow in May that year. Now that was pure agony.

Last summer was so cold that we had to wear parkas to the fireworks convention in August. I'm not kidding when I say it was frigid out there for a week straight. It was not very good convertible weather, to say the least.

One of the things I love about the SSR is that it doesn't feel like a ragtop with the top up. I always felt claustrophobic in the Miata with the top up. It just wasn't right. Not so with the SSR. It is just as good with it up as down.
