My mother had just bought herself a brand new car from a Subaru dealership. She had to drop it off and leave it over night to get a couple upgrades installed, so I told her I'd pick her up. I pull into the Dealership a little later to pick her up; As I pull in Everyone stops what they're doing, The car dealers, onlookers, and even the people their looking at the Subaru's for sale. About 12 people or more came over to the SSR. Even the higher up managers inside the Dealership building came out from their offices to get a look at my Slingshot yellow. IT was pretty funny. :cool Would make a funny car commercial.

A couple driving by at the grocery store, along with a hzlf a dozen other patrons, stopped as I was putting the top up to watch and then asked if it was "Custom" or "showroom"! "You've got to tell me about this sweet little car" another said. It is amazing how many heads we turn, huh?

A memorable moment for me:

Dec 2003: Looking for a photo op near the IOOF hall in a small rural town nearby (Centerville) - I was driving around the block to pull up to the bldg aimed the right way - drove past a school yard. ALL the kids stopped in their tracks (picture basketballs dribbling away) losts of thumbs up and hollers - then I spotted a ball that had gone over the fence - pulled on up and got out to toss it back over - the kids closest were asking what the SSR was (the amazed looks on their faces - priceless) - tossed the ball back over - and next thing I knew - other kids started throwing their balls over so I wouldn't leave so soon...

+ driving my SSR home from Montana - had cars pulling up along side taking pics as I was jammin down the interstate - unbelieveable...

I know it - I didn't leave my SSR there for very long...

But - you know what they saw - 'they don't build up like they used to' - so I'm sure the IOOF will be there another 80 years. Also, when I took that shot - their black SS Silverado was just out of view - I kicked myself in the butt that I didn't get it in the shot too...

Like many others in the early days (even my 'vette motorcrossin uncle) didn't realize the SSR was coming out that early...

That sounds like the when I was in Chicago back in August. Everywhere I drove I was treated like a movie star. Everyone had to come and see the truck. I would not the Valet park the truck so they allowed me to park it in front of the hotel the whole time I was there. There is a picture in the gallery of the truck at the hotel where they had me park it everyday. The best part was seeing everyone's face to see two young people owning it. Most people thought that it was something that a older person would drive. I could go a block with out people asking 20 question. Even the cops had to ask questions.

But I loved it. It is the closet I will ever come to be famous. :)

Yeah the good ol' days (Dec 2003) - I made it a habit to pull into most every Chevy dealership I saw coming home from Montana - The sales staff would literally run out - thinking I was bringing THEIR one and only SSR in. Even the dealership OWNERS would sprint out.

I too had many a peace officer show interest - now I know that even if they do light me up - I may not be getting a ticket after all...

Great story's everybody Keep em' coming!

I got one more~

I had just bought my SSR, I didn't even have plates on it yet. I had just arrived at the on base to meet my family at the px, (PX is like a huge general store for those unfamiliar with the term). I parked it in a good stall upforont and was getting out of my car when I saw a big cop jogging by with his walkie talkie squelching. He stops in mid run and starts staring at the car with that awestruck look. He comes over and starts up a conversation with me about the car, where I got, How much, and all those kinds of things. His walkie talkie goes off again; "The suspect is on foot, we're in pursuit, he's ON THE RUN! we're in pursuit." He says, "Be right there". He then turns the volume down on his walkie and says; "So how you liking your car?" And we continue talking about it for the next five minutes. :lol Lol :lol

His partner eventually callls back a few minutes later and says; "We have him in custody." He finally says "Ok, guess I better go." And he runs off again.

Good stuff

I don't like to drive it to work. I work at the pentagon and everytime I drive to work. You think that there is a car show going on. I always have people around the truck and you would have thought that I had a bomb in the truck because there are always at least two to three cops looking at it. They are always shock that it is a contractor not a General driving it.

But I love the attention that I get.
