The dealer finally got the correct gauges for us. They tried to give me the gauges for an '03/'04 first and I had to raise a bit of a stink so the parts dude would look deeper and get the '05 gauges, but I finally got them in.

When you cut the carpet, it's no big deal. When you start to see how much work is needed to remove the padding, that's a whole nuther ball of wax.

I slid my hand under the carpet and pulled a little bit. A big piece came out in my hand!!! At first I thought I had removed too much, but it looks like they planned quite well for the gauges. The driver and passenger side padding both came out like that. A little bit of tweaking on the floor bracket and Voila! (or is that viola, Buffy?) There they are.

Gauges

Mine just arrived today. Been reading the instructions (normally I wouldn't 'cause guys just don't do that) but I don't want to cut the carpet too much.
But the question is: it says to cut the carpet forward to the I/P support bracket,
what does I/P stand for? I don't have the truck here to go look and the instructions don't decipher it.
Any ideas?

No, no, no...

Please don't bring those pictures into every thread. Buffy has his Viola and fiftiesnut has his Daisy and it just doesn't seem right that we are forced, err, umm that they choose to share them so freely with us all.

P.S. I propose a one week ban for anyone that reposts the belly button picture. I'm still trying to clean up the chunks from that one.

Hey diggs,

I just want to clear something up. I was as grossed out as everyone else with some of the pictures in the SSR Sighting thread (although I am sure it was done in a friendly, humorous manner) the only pictures that I posted on that thread was one of a "******* house boat" and one of Marc's SSR as a highrise.

I sure hope neither of those upset you.

The mention of Viola, was a littlle dig at me because I spelled Voila wrong in that same thread.

There, now it's off my chest.

We all certainly enjoy having some FUN with a few "side-bar" comments here and there but please lets try to save the WILD funny stuff for their own threads. I have gone and edited and or deleted some photos that are now becoming offensive to some of our members.

Please do not infiltrate threads with photos or language that does not relate to the main topic of that thread. If you want to have "off topic" fun please Create a New Thread and or use the "OFF TOPIC" forum for your "creative" writing and photos!

Thanks,

Buffy,

I really wasn't trying to be a jerk. I'm sorry if it came across that way. I'm sure the pictures were posted in humor. Heck, I almost added a couple myself!!

Does anyone have a "tongue-in-cheek" emoticon?? I could have really used one in my prior post.

I had the dealer install mine. They look good but one small issue is the asktray only open about half way there is not enough clearance. No biggy but was curious if you had similar issues. Also what is the difference between the o4 and 05 guages?

I installed the gauges in my 04 SSR and my ash tray doesn't open. I took some measurements on a SSR in a showroom and my dash and console seem to be a half inch closer. While at the, "GM You get the keys car show in Pomona, Ca.", I found a new 2005 SSR with gauge package and the ash tray also would not open. I've tried modifying my bracket and the end result is, "there just isn't enough clearance." I'm also continuing to have problems with the temperature gauge and got a replacement that worked even worse. At this time I'm running with the original gauges that seem better, but I'm still convinced the gauges are the problem? I hate to have anyone work on my SSR and the temp gauge seems to finally work after driving for a short time, so I'll just put up with it for now. Had I known the gauge problem along with the clearance problem I would have never invested the money, but with the carpet cut there is no going back.............
