Here is the link for getting a GID *GM in the Driveway* discount. This program gives a price a little higher than supplier (GMS) and might be useful for someone shopping for an 05 or another style.

The deal is GM has extended this price to "friends and family" of employees. These guys are using the term "friend" loosely, but at this point I think GM will take a sale any way they can get it. The dealers do not have to participate, but they would be crazy not to.

GM in the driveway is 4% over GMS. This works out to be around $200 over invoice. The dealership I used to work for sells everything (except Corvette's) for at least $100 below invoice. I still have access to a lot of the dealer tools, so if I can be of any help to anyone please feel free to let me know.

Thanks,

Based on the price of the vehicle and the amount of local advertising it varies for example in the Denver Colorado area there is a 2% advertising charge. So on a $45000 suburban or any comparable vehiclethe GID will save you $500 from invoice. Biggest advantage is it eliminates haggling and also the dealer is reimbursed from GM so it would be better for the dealer also and you are allowed to still sell below that price and it eliminates any documentation fees.

March Rebate

Yes Mike I think you are right. I will post it .

On Feb.24 William Mork (They call him Billy at Reliable Chevy)and I agreed on a price for an 04 SSR. I said to Billy, I would like to wait until March to see if Chevy will have any Rebates. He said to me it does not matter because if they come out with something in March I will Redate the sale and you will get the Rebate. So we did the sale. My bank check was dated on March 01. I picked up the truck at a dealer in Dansville,NY on March 07. I heard about the March Rebate on this Form March 10. I called Billy about this. He said my SSR did not qualify. At first I took his word on this. I got to thinking about this so I called my local dealer. They ran the Vin# and it did qualify. I E-mailed Billy on this.He said it had to be in dealer inventory for the Rebate. I said if we had waited until March it would have been. He said it started on March 10. I told him the dealers knew about it on March 01. And anyway you told me any Rebate in March you would get for me. Now he says he does not recall saying this. HE DID SAY THIS TO ME. Other than this. I love this SSR. I went to Ohio for a week and then to Florida for a week. Now back home in Vermont. Waiting for summer. What a NICE RIDE.

Hummmm... Didn't get it in writing did you? :nono

Getting any deal in writing is important. Sometimes the seller looses.
In my case the deal hinged on a dollar amount equal to the cost of the running boards. The salesguy offered to remove them and discount the price that amount. The price was discounted, but the running board removal didn't get put on the Due Bill statment, so I kept them.

PS, Only pure GREED would make him think he lost anything on that deal.

When a vehicle is purchased at the end of the month I always offer to hold off on reporting the vehicle sold until the new incentives come out on the 1st or the 2nd in case they are better. If i held the sale date open indefinately i would have customers that bought new model year vehicles in sept calling the next summer wanting the 3-5k in rebates gm always ends up doing. I do my absolute best in taking care of every customer I can. But once a vehicle is reported sold to General Motors it was not eligible for the march madness rebate. It had to be in dealer inventory and show on www.gmprograminfo.com list for each dealer now dealer trades were eligible but the unit still had to show on the original dealers list units that were un-cdrd (custormer delivery reporting) were uneligible. Gm In The Driveway

And now, back to our regular scheduled program. I see that the GID program is last on that program list. Again for all, it is stackable with GM Card rebate dollars, GM rebates. Not stackable with employee programs.

Reporting Vehicles Sold

I don't know how it's done in other states, but in California, a vehicle must have a Report of Sale, (happy tag place in the lower right corner of the winshield), at the date and time of delivery. This is then reported to California DMV within 24-48 hours. (This is the law). I'm sure this is the same in other states. As far as reporting to GM, this is done electronically every day. So it's against GM regs to hold off on this information as is stated by some people  The march madness rebate was carried over until 4-4-05. It was good on all vehicles in dealers inventory as long as they were reported as theirs, (the selling dealer). I find it very hard to believe that this dealer can sell a vehicle to an individual, if its not listed in their inventory. I can't in California, and I don't think you can in any other state. Just my 2 cents.
