The GM Survey Results are in!

First of all, because of the overwhelming responses (318), I just didn't want to limit it to the Top 5 answers, so I broke them into three (3) categories. - (alphabetically) Drivetrain, Exterior and Interior

But there was one response that kept coming up (Qualified SSR service/sales staff) that didn't really match any of the existing categories, so I added another category called General.

The number one suggestion was a Compass/Temp Rear View Mirror, followed closely by Jim Prendergast's Chrome Engine Cover! (Good going Jim!)

The top responses in each category are in BLUE, but I have also showed ALL of the responses in black.

Great job, Buffy

You've obviously put a lot of time and effort into making sense out of everyone's wish list. It's a very logical format, and will hopefully give the GM execs a good map to follow.

Survey Ends

First, I want to thank Troy Roberts, our ssrfanatic’s Administrator and Bob Walczyk, SSR Product/Marketing Manager for allowing me to conduct this survey for all of us here on the ssrfanatic’s web site. I also want to thank John/Buffy for all his fine efforts here in tracking and tabulating our survey and making it very easy to read and understand.

The main goal for this survey was to seek your thoughts about product improvements or other potential product offerings that you would like to see in future of the SSR. I believe that Bob and the SSR Team will have a better sense of what we as SSR owners would like to see for accessories, enhancements and or improvements in the future.
:yesnod

Now some of my thoughts, A reflection back:
Remember that old saying "Becareful what you ask for"... I know for some of you this survey opened up the flood gates to express your pent-up frustrations, headaches, and disappointments with what seems in some cases the lack of knowledgeable SSR service mechanics to be able to address and or correct some of our issues. I honestly believe that Chevrolet is trying their best to address all our issues in a timely matter. I have varing thoughts on these issues, however after re-reading all of your replies I think that “Broomer” has best stated what truly reflects my overall feelings... so I decided to repost his reply.

This little retro rod based on a pick up truck frame is never going to be a Vette or close to it. But I thank Chevrolet for being bold enough to offer us a retro-rod with a corvette engine. I personally think that things like superchargers, blowers, lowering suspension kits, larger brakes, many wheel options, headers and other exhaust options, two tone paint schemes, chrome and all the bells and whistles that the Vette have won't happen. Most of these things should be made available on the aftermarket. This way you can customize your hotrod the way that YOU want it. Personalize it to make your own statement.

I do believe that Chevy has the responsibility to correct the mechanical failings of the SSR. Correcting top raising and lowering mechanisms, Correcting the tonneau cover lifting, excessive wind noise and rattles are all within the proper expectations for future SSR's. I also feel that it is IMPERITIVE that acces be made available behind the seats for some storage even if it has to protrude into the truck bed. Also I would love to see "sunset orange metallic" offered as a paint option. The last thing I would like to see done is make the monstrous hood of fiber instead of metal. Chevy could use an outside vendor to produce these since they are not an integral part of the assembly. They did this for the Camaro SS when S.L.P. made the hoods and shipped them to the assembly plant. This would lighten the overall weight and maybe eliminate the hood raising issue. Also I like the idea of offering the 5.3 or 6.0. The 5.3 could be offered with the automatic only and the 6.0 could have either the auto. or the 6 speed.
Anyway, keep those ideas coming, who knows Chevy may listen to some of them. See you on the road! :seeya
Thank you all once again for your participation. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to everyone!

The survey results look great....

compiled in an order which can be evaluated and anaylzed easily. :yesnod

Marc and Buffy have done a fine job with this project. Because of this, the Chevy folks should look at the survey seriously, and know the inputs are from owners who are knowledgable and concerned about their vehicles, and the future of the SSR. I, for one are glad to have been able to offer my input. :cheers

P/P

Peace :flag

My hats off to you, Marc, Buffy, and Troy! A great job by all in generating, compiling, and allowing the members of "SSRFanatic" to speak out in support of our rides. Thanks Guys! I personally hope that GM continues to flirt with new concepts, and they are all as fun to own and drive as the SSR is!

WOW! Thanks for all of the nice words, but my hat won't fit now! :jester

I, like all of you, hope that SOMEONE in GM will really take a look at the list and I am sure that Marc will do his best to make that happen......

I wanted to say I agree that Marc/John did an excellent job of compiling this information.
I second living2be's response and hope GM does give this survey serious consideration.
After all, who better to give suggestions for improvement than those of us who spent our $$$$ for the '03/'04 SSR and who have taken the time and effort to learn about our most favorite of all vehicles. Thanks to you guys for all of your time and effort!

HI all,

Just want to let everyone know that those of us who work at GM are on our annual holiday shutdown/vacation period until January 3, 2005. I will submit the survey ASAP when I return back to work from our holiday time off. :thumbs

Thanks once again for your kind words and support ...
