I got my new free gas tank today. They installed while I waited, 3 hours out the door.
It cost me nothing for the tank or labor-they charged GM $973.44
I paid $445.45 for a new fuel pump and $24.50 for a fuel filter. plus tax.
My free gas tank only cost me $498.15 :yellow:

Got mine too.......

I got mine last week, but I was livid that my "Special Warranty" made me pay for the items that they damaged during removal. I've filed a complaint with GM over it, and I am making some progress as the factory rep is now involved. I had to pay for 2 broken supply lines and fuel pump retainer. I also bought a fuel pump but not from GM. Saved me over $400 and has a better warranty. GM rep girl told me today that the dealer will be reimbursing me, I'm just waiting in verification.

Ilsa's tank leaked right where the filler tube connected to the tank. There was gunk around it like somebody had tried to fix it before. A local GM dealer replaced it at no cost to me.

Note that this special coverage expires at the end of THIS year and vehicle must have less than 150,000 miles on it. To see if yhours is leaking, laydown under the drivers side right in front of the rear fender well/tie and look up at the tank. If its been leaking you will see small water lines where the filler tube enters the tank. you should also smell fuel when you drive it. It will only continue to get worse over time, so you may want to try and get it done before it runs out. I also replaced fuel pump when they did it as there is no labor charge since they have to remove it anyway.
Heres the info on it. Hope this helps.

This is the site address and these two bulletins are about it. They are located about 3/4 of the way down.

Hmm wonder if they will still honor this, I just got my truck and this is the first I have seen on it. I will check it out and see if there is any leaking and if so I will be heading to the Chevy dealer and see what they say.

Ever since I got the letter from GM about the extended warranty it had been my plan to have the local Chevy dealer inspect the tank just before the warranty expired if no other symptoms manifested themselves. For my SSR the warranty expires at the end of the month. I stopped by the dealer today to make an appointment and found out, much to my surprise, that the warranty/recall allows for a free inspection. Just wanted to pass that to as many 2003 owners who might want to avail themselves of the free inspection.
