Hey Troy, Mark,

Shouldn't this really be a separate forum?

Edit: It pains me to say so but it should also be moderated.
HI group,

Two questions:

1.) What are your feelings on the thread Tips & Tricks? I have been asked to make this thread as short and concise as possible. I also have been asked if this should go into a new forum. I am waiting for Troy's input on this. I am not sure whether Troy wants our site to have as many forums as you may see on some other sites.

2.) I am trying to allow "some" small side bar comments in a few of the threads. When I see it get "OFF TOPIC" too much I will rein them in by editing or deleting the replies. Howerver if you feel that in some of the threads it is way out of line then please PM me and I will take another look at it.

Thanks for your input... as most of your comments to me have been very positive and supportive. I certainly want to keep our family/ community here not only informative but fun and entertaining too.

Your comments are welcomed. :)

Hey Marc! NUKE it if you want! HA!

It seems like I was learning more about my SSR by trial & error and I thought this would be a good place to put all of these "discoveries".

But if you want, feel free to eliminate it and we can just go back and start a new one if we find another tip.

No problem for me......

HI John,

I think the thread on Tips & Tricks is a great idea... for those that might want to go to one quick spot for tips and ideas. So I really don't want to eliminate it. I can release it from being on top of the forum if you want that to happen.

Ok folks... more input please...

Tips & Tricks

You asked for input, here's mine. I think the Tips & Tricks thread idea is a good one. I don't really think it needs to be a separate forum as long as everyone respects it for what it is. Post your tip or trick as concisely as possible and we don't need the sidebar comments. That will keep the thread short and we won't have to dig thru 3 or 4 pages to find what we're looking for. I would leave it to your discretion to edit out any and all comments that are not a tip or a trick. Just my 2 cents worth.

OK Marc,

Adding to lloger's thoughts, as a tip or trick comes in, we assign it a number (1,2,3, etc.) and as other tips come in, you can "eliminate" the side bar talks......... So that what's left are the numbered list Tips & Tricks.... make sense?

window/rubbers folding over

Not proven by me or approved by G.M …. A good friend of mine who owns an auto glass shop (has 55 Nomad). He say’s if you go to drug store and get some Glycerin and rub down the rubber with it, that it will condition the rubber to flex out for the window.(That is if your window worked before and has just started to give you trouble after time has passed). I know G.M. has special grease to condition the rubbers on a maintenance schedule.

Whatever You Think

Marc,

As for me...It makes no difference. I read every new post each morning anyway and the search tool helps me find the tricks I want later. However you choose to organize the site, I'll see the new posts and find the old ones I need. Makes me wonder if it's worth all your time to rewrite, edit, and move the tips and tricks people submit. It's up to you.

thread vs forum request clarification

I made the request for a new forum specific to tips and tricks for several reasons. I'll list them as pros/cons.

Forum Pro's:
-Threads can be listed by the lead post. It's a natural match to allocate one thread to each tip.
-Forums can be moderated to filter out the "That's just too cool" posts. This can be done before or after the post is public.
-If the moderator puts the work in, the result can be quite good.

Forum Con's:

Sombody has to work as "Editor/Moderator" to give the results consistancy.

Single thread pro's:

One place to look.

Single thread con's:

-No way to concisely list the subjects within the thread. Take a look, the majority of reply posts have no subject at all.
-Post order cannot be managed at all within a thread.

p.s. Buffy's Tips and Tricks is a great idea it needs to be continued no matter how managed.

Great input

Thanks to all for your inputs ... hopefully we can work out the best solution or way to utilize this thread and to be able to retain this great idea of Tips & Tricks.

Keep those ideas coming!
