Hi, I'm new, I didn't come here to flame...just wanted to ask this question...

...next weekend at a 1/8th mile track. He's been talking crap saying his cars all that and blah blah blah...

It's an 04 and apparently has the z06 motor in it, he's claiming "at least 400 to the ground " He said he has a ram air intake and full exhaust...

I personally don't think he will show up, but like 10 people from work are egging him on to go and put his money were his mouth is...I wanted him to go higher then 100...

What do these things run in the 1/4? 1/8th? I tried look for a forum for them but didn't find anything...

I think he stands no chance being I'll be on ET Streets and him street tires...

My car mods are as follows...

2004 Silver Cobra 469.5rwhp/480.1rwtq
#3744 of 3768
2.76 BF Non-Slip and 1 piece idler (Approx 14 psi)
Gords Heat Exchanger
Steeda Tri-Ax
K&N FIPK w/ JLT RAI
MAC 3' Catback
MAC Prochamber
Accufab TB/Plenum
H&R Sport Springs
MM Strut Tower, MM Caster Camber Plates
315 555R's

Again, I'm not trying to flame...just trying to find out what I'm up against...

Thank you for all your help :seeya

EDIT:

I'm expecting to run 7.5 in the 1/8th and I should be right around 11.6-11.8 in the 1/4...

Do I have anything to worry about?

:lol where are you at? I would love to see this one I hope you video tape it! Is this guy a member of our site? I say whatever the outcome the weight of the SSR is going to be a big factor and of course driving skills is always a plus.

I honestly don't know if he's a member, but I think he would be too dumb to figure out how to use a computer...

I remember him saying that it was an 04 being he bought it in like november of last year...

But what if its an 05? How do they do in the 1/4?

EDIT:

Oh and I will video tape it for sure, but as far as putting it on the net...I'm not that talented so thats something I'll have to look into...

Where are you? Don't worry we have very talented people on this site that can help with the video.

I tried a 1/8 mile drag strip in Lakeland, FL. My best pass was 9.80 at 73.76 mph. I'm planning on some tweaks to get near a 9.50.

Cool, I'll definately let you know when I get the video on the computer...Thanks for your help...
If he has an 04 with no mods, he only has 300HP. If he has the magnuson turbo then he is up to around 400HP, but with all the weight, as much as I love my SSR, I would bet on your Cobra. It is lighter and well, you know the rest. Ya never know what he has under the hood though....let us know how it turns out. :jester

I don't think he has a turbo...he'd be braggin about that...

He said he had full exhaust, and a ram air intake...
Race

If all he has are those mods, no blower or turbo, you'd get him.
I think you 'll have no problem. I wouldn't take that bet with mine '05 6 liter 6 speed.. You've got plenty of power with all those mods and a whole lot less weight.
Just don't go up in smoke at the start ;)

Good luck

:confused Now let me see if I understand this.... A Mustang owner has come here to ask if he can beat an SSR???? Even though the SSR guy issued the challenge, this is hardly a fair comparison. In the old days of class racing, these two vehicles would never come up against each other. Is he just seeking glory for himself or his car?
I Agree

I agree. Come on we are the SSR site, not the Mustang (Ford-Found By the Road Dead, Fix Or Repair Daily) site. :lol :

Of course, because we are good hearted souls we let him know that he can trounce one of our own. nono

However, instead of supporting him and letting him know that he has nothing to worry about why don't we just encourage him to be the bigger person and bow out of the race.

He can say "I have nothing to prove. I am secure in my car and myself" :thumbs

But NOOOOOOO! We encourage him! :glol

Who knows that mustang guy could be the person who's wreaking all those SSRs! :smash

Protect our SSRs!
:seeya E :seeya

P.S. If the SSR owner who is racing is a member of this site. Just remember, if you are racing the guy "DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!" AND NEVER LOOK BACK! :lol

Cobra vs. SSR

I have an 04 SSR and an 03 Cobra as well. If the SSR is stock it's the 5.3L with 300 hp. Fun but nothing to be excited about. My (any your's) Cobra would leave any stock SSR like it was standing still. A stock SSR 0-60 time is 7.0 seconds :yawn It's like an apple vs. an orange. If he dropped in an LS2 or even an LS1 it would still have to be putting out at least 475hp to overcome the weight penalty to match the performance of our STOCK 03 Cobras. Plus there would be traction issues which would kill any 60 foot time for the SSR meaning he would have to be generating even more HP to make up for it on the big end (speed at the end of the 1/4 mile). Factor in your mods in your Cobra and he still doesn't stand a chance. It would literally take about 750 hp, special transmission and rear end in any SSR to get the job done against your modified Cobra. NOT impossible but not very likely.

Just remember there are 2 kinds of trash talkers when it comes to how quick their vehicles are, those who are too ignorant to know when to shut up and those who CAN back it up. You never know which one you are dealing with until it's over. I knew a guy once with a 600 hp motor in a Cady sedan Deville. He won MANY dollars from young inexperienced Camaro, Firebird and Mustang drivers who wouldn't ever imagine a Cady with that kind of power.

Let us know what happens but do it safely and if possible at the local strip where all you do is have a winner and a looser. Just read a post from the C5/6 Net and 2 guys in a Vette drag racing killed a couple a few years ago. The Vette black box recorded 139 mph just before the crash. Both just got 3-yrs in jail.

Actually I am for real, and I will post pics of his car when I come home from work on Sunday...since he parks somewhat close to me in our employee parking...

His is silver...

I will also ask him whether it is an 04/05...

He's the one that iniated the challenge...I know nothing about these trucks, thats why I came here and asked...I ment no bad feelings about the truck, just curious about it...

Sorry if I offended anyone... :angel

Himself definately, he's always making comments on how "better off" he is then anyone else...

Many folks I think get f.cked up on self image. They have this ridiculous notion that there neigborhood(I live at...), size of house, what they work at( I am a whatever( lawyer, waitress, doctor) , what they drive , "I own this,I own that"etc etc defines who they are. Wow! what a concept. Just rambling , but on some occasions when on this site The above comes to mind.

A lot of people in real estate have many multiples more of net worth than Donald Trump some in his own backyard as one might say;but ,they don't have a self image problem. Many big players regard Trump as a franchise only.

I suppose its tied to EGO

Certainly not said to offend anyone. But I have made a judgement and realize that it is something that isn't productive( for me) .

Saturday morning.......have to go and do something productive.

I don't think Da1 wanted to insult or he would have come in bashing, instead he asked what he would be up against from real SSR drivers. I do hope that this race if it takes place happens on a secured track. There are several around the Dallas area were rescue vehicles are on site.

Did I miss it, Da1? Did you say where you are located?

I don't think there is a comparrison between Cobra Stang and the SSR unless it has the mods it wouldn't be a close race to begin with.

As I said before the weight is the real issue.

Hey Da1 tell your SSR buddy you would just like to race for fun and send him to our site! :thumbs.
You will waste the guy if it's just an 04 with basic bolt ons....

I hate to say it, but my SSR is the SLOWEST vehicle I have owned in quite a long time.
