My truck is in the shop right now getting allot repaired on it. Main thing is this..

I had a slight rearend wine at 50 mph..This is the speed you could realy tell it at and some slop on and off the gas. My dealer replaced everything in the center section to enclude bearings, seals, shims ring and pinion everything. They got it back together and drove it and it was still there. After returning to the shop they found more metal in the housing :eek

Now they tell me they are waiting on a GM rep to tell them that it is ok to replace the entire rearend from rotor to rotor as they feel it is made wrong.. Looks like sometime next week before I will get my truck back if I am lucky.

Does this sound like a common problem and the coreect path to solving it to you? They have had it since Monday and I am stuck driving a silveraldo in the meen time..Dang if ain't going to be sunny and in the 70's this weekend.

Anyone else have a whinning noise?

The dealer had to do the exact thing for me and others and it ultimately requires the entire rear end to be replaced. GOOD LUCK

I also have a whining rear end. I took it in for service, the dealer said that when it was on the lift they could not hear it, that it was probably the tires. I told them that maybe it was but I wanted it noted on the service ticket in case of a problem later. Well the all the time sound is not as loud but I have developed a howl when you are at cruise speed that goes away when you barely push down on the gas pedal. Sound anything like your problem? Edd
